my dog wont eat help?

My dog alfie is a yorkie cross he will be 2years in december, The thing is he has not eaten for days. he dont like dog food i have tried all different brands he eats when he is with my mums dog but at home he hardly touches it and now for about 4days he has not eat anything. My mothers dog is in season and at home he is pining for her all the time just crying and crying its driving me mad, funny thing is she's a german sheperd far to big for him lol. It just want him to eat, anyone have any ideas?

Hello some males will not eat much if he is around a female in heat and yes he probably is driving you crazy!!!! He will eat... take him for a walk and get him out and away from the female. right now all he has om his hot little head if her her her !!!!! OH BABY!!!! the female has 1 week comming in heat 1week in 1 week going out so basically you have 3 weeks of this hope most of the wait is over with after she comes out of heat he will return to normal...... is he loosing weight? does he have worms ? is he still going to bathroom as usuall? if he has not lost weight, he does not have worms,and nothing has changed in his potty habits. then he is like a man in a bar if he gets lucky or thinks he is gonna get lucky he does not think of white castle but after the bar closes and it is just him well come on you have seen the line at white castle right!! Ok well not the best example but you get the point. I am 96 % sure he is fine just got that love me thing going on. just wait a few days he will be back to nornmal

don't take him to your mums house that is teasing him. And if you are going to her house when you get back change your clothes because he will smell her dog and to him that is like someone keeping your partner away from you when you want to see her/him. Try encourage him with food but do not force the food on him. Put the dinner down in the morning and leave in for half an hour and take it away if he does not eat it so that he does not choose when he eats you do and then put it down at night for half an hour and then pick it back up if he does not eat it. And keep repeating this cycle and he will understand that he eats when you want him to not when he wants to but if he does not start eating in a couple of days i suggest that you take him to the vet as there may be something medically wrong with him. Just like humans hes love struck lol what you need to do is get him away from her scent, probably to late now but time her season if you catch it early enough you can get the vet to give him a jab simular to bromin that will stop his urges,used to have two collies (Lassie) one lady on dog poor lad used to climb the walls be off food for ages even favorite treats, you might try taking him somewhere where she has not been (scent free) and giving him his grub there, if she has been left scent near/in your house cover it with a stronger scent aftershave might make him sneeze a bit he may even roll in her scent so a bath may be in order more but if you do nothing else make sure his water is always full he will be panting and freting so dont let him go dry - hope it helps

Sometimes when a dog won't eat,it needs to be wormed.Some dogs won't eat when there is a dog in heat around them.You should try mixing your usual food and put a small amount of a good brand of canned dog food with it,most dogs will eat this.If not,you must force feed your pet with a syringe.Try boiling some chicken,cut into small pieces,put in blender with small amount of water and puree it,most will eat this when nothing else.Dogs will eat better with other dogs,because they think the other dog will eat it all.

A dog will never starve himself, while your mums dog is on heat DO NOT TAKE YOURS as this is cruel as you are teasin him into thinkin its gonna be his day, ask your mum when her dog is finished, then your can start takin him round when all the smells have gone, would be a good idea to get your dog doctored then this want happen again, once the season is out the way the dog will eat again.

he might be sick but if he eats around ur mom's dogs if its at your mom's house then I don't know what to say because maybe thats where he wants to be.you might try bringing your mom's dogs to your house and see if he'll eat then you would know it is the dogs and not your mom's house because if you only have one dog then maybe he is lonely. you might try wet dog food or the same kind your mom uses. I'd take him to the vet if nothing works within a couple of days but make sure he gets water if he won't drink then you have a problem

If it's been 4 days, u should probably take him to the vet as there may be something wrong that makes him not want to eat.

my mum has a rottweiler and hes about 11 sometimes he goes off his food ; i go in the kitchen pick up his bowl and pretend to eat his food when i put the bowl down he sometimes eats some ;other times we feed him off a spoon just so we know hes got some food in him .

try some chicken - you must make sure you dog drinks plenty of water otherwise it will dehydrate. If this continues take him to the vet.
