Of course it's unhealthy. Otherwise, why would people get up off the couch during a good movie and go to the washroom to urinate. We'd just do it on the spot too.
That's crazy and why he'd turn his place into a pig sty is nuts. If (and he probably will) he ends up getting rid of the dog, it's not trained and will be hard to adopt out and probably end up euthanised. That's not fair to the dog.
Talk to him and tell him it's time he trained the dog. If he won't listen, then on the sly go to the SPCA or local Animal Control Shelter and tell them about the problem. They could arrange to stop by when he's home and just be "doing a check to make sure all dogs have their licences" and then notice the odour and ask him about it and ask if they can come in. They could then take action. It would get you off the hook and he couldn't blame you.
Good luck. Thank goodness he's your EX - I'd hate for any daughter of mine to be with someone who thought that was okay! Yuck
Question: Who is 18? The dog or your EX? If it's the dog and he's incontinent, there are doggy diapers to help with the problem.

I shouldn't imagine the dog likes having to go in the house either but if it has no choice then it can't be to blame. I find it disgusting people who can't be bothered to take their dog out at least once a day for a walk - when I take mine you can see the enjoyment the dog has. Just getting the lead out of the draw sets him off into a little frenzy. Why would you deprive your dog of such a treat?

Besides the fact that it's filthy and disgusting, It is unhealthy. You can get e.coli if you let him poop in the house. Tell your ex to take the dog out every hour on the hour to use the bathroom, and the dog will pee less if he eats wet food, or dry and wet food mixed.

Yes, if you did a test on the home, it's probably filled with ecoli bacteria. Try not to eat over there. If he can't take care of a dog and be responsible for it, he should give it to someone who can.

This is not a danger to his health as long as he cleans it up. You know if you live long enough you may have the same problem. We don,t get rid of people for being incontinent. Think about it.

relies upon on how normally and what the stool is like. maximum canines circulate one to 3 cases in keeping with day and based on their nutrients ordinary would be certain the consistency and colour (gross huh?). If he/she is going extra advantageous than that and that's runny (gross) then he could have a virulent disease or yet another problem and going to the vet (with a clean stool pattern-gross returned) could be the main suitable.

well, if he doesn't take the dog out routinely, what does he expect? also because the dog is so old, he might not have the control he used to.
sometimes dogs can be like humans and become incontinent in their old age. if your ex doesn't want to confine the dog to one room or a crate when he can't watch the animal, then i guess it's his problem.. not yours.

To allow an animal to relieve itself inside one's home is harmful to the human and the dog. The feces contain bacteria, and not to mention it stinks. Your EX should stop being lazy and take the dog outside, or else be reported to the SPCA for animal abuse.
