If, sometime in the near future, we discover an asteroid or comet that will definately crash into the Earth, should we try and do everything in our power to avert it, or should we just sit back and accept our impending doom?

"'We' are not amused", as Queen Victoria might have said. The communal 'we' are so disparate (and, in the event of an asteroid) so desperate, we'd be running around like headless chickens. If Government does not already have a plan for such an event, there's nothing 'we' can do about it.

But Jesus said, prior to his return, that although mens' hearts would be failing them for fear of the things about to come upon the inhabited earth, his disciples would lift their heads up in hope, knowing their deliverance was nigh. There is no impending doom for those whose faith is in the Creator of heaven and earth!

Is there were time to repair, then we need to repair. There would be nothing to do to stop it from happening (impact) If is time it is time. All we can do is make sure that we are in right standing with the Lord. I would not see it as impending doom though, It would be the Lords will and that would not in any way be doom's day for those who have no doubt in our minds that we will be going home.

None of us would even know about it, if it
was heading for Earth. No sense in making mass panic happen - the government will
never let you know until you are a goner.

There was once three men playing a board game when someone ran up to them in panic, saying "the world is ending in one hour", and handing them undeniable proof of the fact.
The first guy said "then I shall buy ten whores"
The second guy said "then I shall buy a bottle of vodka"
The third guy said "then I shall finish the game".

Thats my answer to you: "I shall finish the game".

We should definitely try to stop it. In fact, it's been prophecied that one would hit the earth (Revelation) with devastating results. The only way to stop it is worldwide repentence which is, unfortunately, a price so high mankind probably won't want to pay it. But it would be worth paying....

I think that we should avert it. Why accept it if we can do something about it? But, if it's inevitable I would not be fearful. I'm not afraid of death because it actually means eternal life for me.

"Immediately after the tribulation of those days shall the sun be darkened, and the moon shall not give her light, and (the stars shall fall from heaven), and the powers of the heavens shall be shaken" Matthew 24:29

It won't be just one that falls to the earth. All of them will fall. Are you ready for that?Because its nearer than you think.

God still expects us to do what we have to do in these situations. If it is meant by Him to impact with us, whatever we do will not work. However, if we do nothing, we KNOW what will happen.

These kinds of questions annoy me. If we ate more cheese instead of M&M's, we wouldn't worry about things like that.
