I dooooooon't knowwwwwww.
But if we don't get on with living, we will have missed a lot of good stuff just because we spent so much time pondering this question that no one seems to be able to answer.

When a typical atheist concieves of death the possibility of purpose is extuinguished, annhialated.
Therefore he must find purpose only in life.
My purpose it to find the most fulfilling meanings and purposes.
Meanings I see as interpretations and explanations of the world around me, and the best come from science, and after that comes common sense. Moral interpretations stem from inside of me, but relate to my part in a greater social whole.
Purposes are defined as 'telic', or relating to the future. What do I wish for? Fulfillment.
Meanings and purposes which work to fulfill myself and others are the best I can imagine. Understanding science, or the way the world works, helps.
If we all concieve this way, we are more likely to get what we want and need.

Even though we live in a goal-oriented society it should be clear to all but the most simple-minded that nature doesn't put us here with a purpose beyond reproduction. This is not a game show and there will be no prizes at the end.

I have no idea what "our" purpose is. Nor do I attach any meaning to it. I do not view the human race as a "collective". My belief is that you make your own purpose for your existence. You are an individual, with a mind of your own. Use it.

I believe we are here to advance the consciousness of all that is. We as humans are not aware of 95% of the things going on around us..consciously. Our soul, the higher consciousness
is aware of everything. I think we are ALL connected thru the power that is, every blade of grass has awareness, and together we are all experiencing everything, and that higher power is a part of all of us. I hope this is all leading to an enlightened state of being.

I think our purpose in life is to help people in need, forgive people, Take Jesus into our hearts most of all.

I cannot speak for everybody. I only know MY purpose.
"To know Christ...and to make Him known."
If I fulfill my purpose...then it will indeed be "our" purpose.
Until then, I shall go now and celebrate the mysteries of the Holy Eucharist with God's people.

In my opinion it is to be the best person I can be so that others can see that I am a Christian through my actions and my life not my words.
