Add some red cayenne pepper and/or a little hot sauce, but remember a little goes a long way.

you can add some (not alot) of jalapenos diced finely, but take the seeds out first. This will soften the heat that they have as most of it is in the seeds. you can also use some serrano peppers and do the same thing. this is going to sound strange, but my husband puts cumin in his chili (more than chili powder in quantity) and that gives it that chili flavor and carries some heat.

Cumin OR few shots of hot sauce should take care of it. Add whatever you decide to use; a little at a time, stir it in well and taste before adding more. You can always increase the heat but getting it back out is near impossible.

tabasco goes with everything!!! also many forms of chilis with varying degrees of heat. the removal of seeds will take some of heat out of a chili. and then the ever favorite cayenne. but no frig is complete without tabasco.

I usually add softened crushed red peppers.
1/2 cup oil (any type) 1 tablespoon of crushed red peppers. simmer on low and then let cool down to room temp. save your mix for another recipe.you'll find it goes great with everything.

cumin will make it sweeter as you put too much in, add chilli powder or a bit of curry powder or sliced chillis finely.
