You're absolutely right - an atheist doesn't believe in any god, and so, by extension, also doesn't believe in anti-gods like the Christian Devil either.

Where your friend might be coming from is the idea that some believers have that you're either actively with them or actively against them, and that anyone who's not a believer in their particular god has been tricked by their particular devil, and will suffer the consequences. This is the process by which people get confused about witches for instance. Witches don't believe in "The Devil" either, but you often here them decried by particular groups of Christians as "Devil-worshippers". It's nonsense, stemming from this "them or us" mentality. You're right. Atheists believe in no gods or devils.

Peace, from this atheist.

of direction no longer, the concept in a 'devil like discern' could be (to all people with even a effortless carry close of reason) conditional on the concept in a god-like discern, and vice-versa. i'm no longer Illuminati, yet then I pay attention they're somewhat secretive, perhaps i would not understand if I have been. i do no longer choose for to be atheist to any extent further than i choose for to abide by the guidelines of gravity, I additionally do no longer 'return to god' nor do I plan on doing so interior the destiny. applying 'god' as an exclamation is a cultural difficulty, why do you employ the multitude of words and names derived from Greek and Roman gods?

You are right. Atheists don't believe in either God or the Devil. We think that they're all made up stories designed to scare people into submission to the Church, and later, the Government.

You are right. Religious people go around telling stories about supernatural beings, miracles and such. The simplest way to put it is to say that atheists just don't believe those stories... we think they're crazy.

Religious puppet-masters want to tell their minions WHAT to think... they do not want you to know HOW to think. So, many of them tell their flock that they are all in a 'spiritual' war... and that atheists are the enemy, working on the side of Satan to destroy all that is 'good'. That, or course, is complete horse-pucky.

Know this, though... we ARE engaged in a 'cultural war'. On one side, we have rationality and critical thinking... i.e., 'sane people'. In the opposing corner, we have gullibility, irrationality, willful ignorance, self-delusion, intellectual dishonesty, drooling stupidity and hypocrisy (religion). This happens to be a battlegound in that war... essentially, a war of ideas.

We're not seeking to 'convert' anyone... that is futile. The systematic religious indoctrination (brainwashing) that has been inflicted upon the 'other side' conveys a demonstrable immunity to things like reason, logic, evidence and critical thinking.

However... I consider it to be our ethical duty and moral responsibility as sane, rational human beings to intervene, in the hope of protecting vulnerable, questioning young minds from being infected by the dangerous and harmful religious 'meme' (viral idea)... protecting them from droolingly stupid nonsense like this: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6xKDKq_PPbk&mode=related&search=

The word "atheist" is a combination of two words. The theist is someone who believes God exists. Putting an "a" in front of a word negates what comes after it, so 'atheist' means someone who does not believe God exists.

This is partially why people who claim to be agnostic are so funny. Gnostic means knowledge, while agnostic means no knowledge. People who say they are agnostic are, in effect, claiming they don't know anything. :)

The earliest men were atheists before they came to recognize anything more than themselves around them.

As such, atheism is the most primitive spiritual condition of man.

Something other than logic caused early man to gradually change from atheism to paganism.

Modern atheists have merely reverted to the most primitive spiritual condition man ever occupied.
