We got my dog in November and she was one when we got her. Me and my partner spoil her and we have never laid a finger on her.
We a man comes into our house she barks at them some men she stops barking at but others she keeps going for ages.
She also goes for our cat but only when she is sitting on us.
Does anyone know how we can stopher or why she doe it?

She is half Yorkshire terrior and half Jack russell. She looks like a yoshire terrior.

I was given her from a friend. But she was given to someone else but they gave her back after a week.(we don't know why because apart from what I've told you she is so loving.

Your dog feels she is in charge (#1), and that it's her job to protect you. Since you are in charge (right?), command her to sit in an assigned spot, and shush when when she starts barking at men or your cat

First did you get your dog from a shelter? If you did, she could have been abused by a man. I had a Rot who was a bused by a man. He would bark at all tall skinny white males. If your dog is barking at just one type then this could be the case. Or she could just not like them or not trust them. The best thing to do is to give her plenty of room and an escape route when men come around. The escape route is very important. It is so that way she does not feel trapped. If she will, call her over to you at introduce her to the man but do not push her. Also your dog could very well be "a lady's dog". I have had to deal with similar situations myself. My current dog does not like almost anyone. Should everything you try fail, just put her outside when you are expecting guests, if you can.

a man did something to her and more than likely the ones that she won't stop barking at have a physical appearance or maybe wear teh same cologne.
You are lucky My sisters dog viciously atacked her husband and gave him 35 stitches this is the problem with adopting and getiing an older dog.

well maybe your dog has had a bad experiance with men, a man might of abused her before you took care of her, my dog was very agressive but that was my brothers fault because he trained it to be really agressive to anyone not just men, eventually he bit a child so you need to seek propper advice of a vet or anyone who knows how to train dogs before its too late.
good luck

she's scared of men. My dog had the same issues, I took him to petsmart training and asked for a male trainer.
you could give men some treats and have them feed her so she can see men as nice as she sees your boyfriend.
just get random men differant sizes ,color, have them where hats, glasses, so she can see that no matter what they look like there nice.
this is what my trainer did and now my dog thinks that all men want to play with him LoL!

Your dog has territorial issues and is trying to establish herself as the alpha, you need to become more confident in your commands to her and re-establish the fact that YOU are the alpha.
