Entertaining the possibibity that there is one in the first place, why would God let you suffer for eternity due to being tricked by the devil? Wouldn't it be far more humane just to make you not exist anymore? Honestly, if given the choice, would you take Hell or non-existence?

There were a lot more good answers than I expected. To be honest, I thought there was going to be far more cookie cutter responses.

What you suggest is exactly how it is.
God is not interested in burning people forever.
Burning people forever is demonic.
The choice is indeed: existence or non-existence.

Actually you're on to something, torture in hell for eternity is impossible for the Bible says that the dead are consciuous of nothing at all(Ecclesiastes9:5), and since one has to be conscious to experience pain and suffering the dead cannot experience any suffering, and what you say about death is how it is, death is non-existence just like we didn't exist before we were concieved we don't exist after we die the notion thast God would let us suffer in hell for eternity comes from the devil who wants to paint God black and mislead people into thinking that God is cruel and unjust, is this not what people are thinking?

I don't know if many really "suffer" the pains of Hell for eternity. I think you're punished until forgiven by God. What may be stated about Hell and eternity is to make your realize the seriousness of disobedience, to make wiser choices in life, and to know the amount of time is not yours to make. The length of time probably depends on the offense committed. Best reason to live a "good" life now before we reach our Judgement Day.

I would take Hell over non-existence, especially if it were just for a period on time til forgiven. But you may have to make that choice on your Judgement Day.

God Bless

You hit that right on the head.

"Son, in my infinite mercy and love, I'm now going to hand you over to the man next door so he can torture you in his basement for eternity since you disobeyed me"

This is a perfect father?

You take it for granted that it's God-function or have in your wisdom alloted this function to Him.Funny, isn't?What if He refuses to tow to your dictates?Hell or nonexistence are not the alternatives but flights of our imagination.Be factual and come again.
