8 of the past 9 days I've ran 7 miles each day, almost all of them on a pebbly trail, and with about 1 mile per run at an average of 15% uphill. I have a slight cold, my nose bled during my last run and also while just shooting some hoops yesterday, and my right knee hurts slightly when I step on it. My feet also feel kind of heavy (on the 6th 7-mile run, I actually seemed to have the most energized run of my life, but the 8th and latest run I felt like I weighed +20lbs). So I am probably overtrained right now. How many days off should I take and what should I do while I am resting? Is it okay to lift weights for the upper body while I rest or should I just cut all activity?

Listen to your body; it's trying to warn you. I'd say rest completely for at least 3-4 days.

1. Rest until you get over the cold, no longer have nose bleed, your knee no longer hurts, and your feet don't feel heavy.

2. NO more hoops.

3. Eat right and get plenty of rest.

4. Rest while you rest.

5. NO.

Reassess your condition in 1 week, then pretend you're just starting to run and ease back into it if you feel okay.

Good Luck

You are exhibiting the signs of over training.
Don't run while you are sick.
Relax, drink plenty of water, stretch so you do not become tight.
Don't lift or play basketball
It will not hurt you to take off a week if that is what it takes to feel good.

Be careful because if you start back too soon you will have a relapse, so if you start running and get sick again take off several more days.

in all danger no longer; it fairly relies upon on how properly your physique handles it and if it starts to interrupt down bodily. you will understand that if stiffness and discomfort seems to stay with you longer than it could, you're greater drained and don't look to have the potential on your exercises, etc. See how your physique handles it and hear it and make certain you eat right and get a lot of relax and likewise hydrate for the duration of and after your exercises. whilst i improve into struggling with my exercises and days have been packed and that i could shelter myself at approximately 80 5-88% waiting for a combat. That way i could take a combat on short word with little hardship on an identical time as on the comparable time make it a sprint much less complicated for my physique to maintain issues via fact i improve into no longer constantly on the top as much as now as conditioning and working out. i stumbled on attempting to maintain myself at a hundred% for all time brought about my physique to breakdown some and so i does no longer. absolutely everyone seems to be diverse whilst it is composed of this and so I say hear on your physique and how properly it handles it and if it does not decrease back a sprint or perhaps make 2 days mild days and not do the P90X exercises.
