because during depression and loneliness, your faith is at its lowest, thus you feel forsaken. The truth is, it is Your Conscience. When you are depressed you waken to the realities of the world, everything becomes, more real, you have nothing to hide behind and you feel lonely. you grasp at religion for the answers, when the answers are within you. Jesus hasn't left you, he was never there, Jesus is just a symbol of your consciousness, confront this head on and you will reach the pinnicle of enlightenment and be set free!
you are the driver of you own destiny, take the wheel and follow your own road!

Because Jesus is not real.

You have just stated that Jesus leaves you when you are lonely or depressed, indicating that only the presence of Jesus can make you happy???

If that is the case, why is it that millions of Atheists and people of other religions aren't constantly depressed? Why are some of the happiest people I've met non Christians?

Its time you realised that the best way to get through depression or any other hard times in life is to realise that this life is the only one you have and it isn't a dress rehearsal for eternal bliss in heaven!

Depression is like walking in a night without Moon. You have only a little light with you and so you can see only your feet. You cannot see where your way is leading you, nor the many things around you. You cannot see Jesus on your side. Remember this: if God gives us a sufference to carry as a weight in our life, he knows well the maximum weight each of us can carry. He doesn't give us a weight which is not in our possibilities to carry.

One day, you'll see that Jesus was on your side in many ways and through many people and circumstances. I hope, this day comes for you very soon.

You need to know scriptures, I have had bad times and I'm as guilty as anyone of screaming that God has deserted me, but in His word He promises that He will never leave us nor forsake us, and we mustn't let Satan whisper those lies in our ears saying we are alone. Stand up and tell Jesus out loud that you know He is there even if you can't feel Him. Our feelings are not always to be trusted, that's why we need His word.
We are in good company anyway, King David often wrote psalms saying God was far away, But he never forgot in the end that God was faithful.

Don't you remember the foot prints in the sand? That's when he carries us so that we don't die. If we do then it's by our own hand because he is there we just have to reach out and call on him and listen. We have to believe things will get better. And I'll tell you a secret. I have depression and I have walked in some pretty sad shoes but the love of God pulled me from the brink of death and here I am.

It`s about time that you, and everyone who thinks Jesus is the son of a god, wakes up to the fact that Jesus was just another religious maniac who thought he was the son of god.
In his day he was believed because they were simple people with no knowledge of science or anything else which would prove him wrong, they believed in ghosts, magic, fairy stories, ogres and dragons and such, and if they could not explain or disprove anything, there was only one way out, credit it to the gods, as many civilistations did, Romans, Greeks etc: He said he would come back, but when he did, as claimed by several dozen Jesus`s that followed, no-one believed him, or them.
That just proves that as we get older and wiser that we are not so easily led and duped and taken in by mythical stories that appear in that book of fairy-stories, the bible.

why rely on jesus? p.s. I once read this poem in my Grandmum's house :
"The man was looking down on to the earth. He was reflecting upon his life. In every place there were two sets of footprints, except the hardest times in his life. There was only one set then. 'Why would God abandon me at the hardest point in my life', he wondered. Just then, he heard a voice say 'God did not abandon you, he was carrying you.'"

so there

During times of depression and loneliness, we tend to feel like God has abandoned us. It is because the evil spirits(our sinful nature) that dwell within us. This nature wars against our spirit and tries to convince us that Jesus has forsaken us. The enemy knows that if he can get us to believe that God is not present in our lives then he has won. Therefore, during times when we are low we need to rebuke these seducing spirits that are not of God.

Jesus left us a comforter, the Holy Spirit, "...the Spirit helps us in our weakness."(Romans 8:26). Therefore, as children of God, we must be led by the Spirit. We do not know what we ought to pray for(esp. when we are depressed and lonely), but the Spirit himself intercedes for us with groans that words cannot express(Romans 8:26).

Further, the word of God states, "Who(what) shall separate us from the love of Christ? Shall trouble or hardship...No, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him who loved us. "...Neither angels nor demons,...nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord."(Romans 8:35-39)

Be confident that God is your refuge. " God is our refuge and strength, an ever-present help in trouble."(Psalm 46:1)

But, the harsh reality is this: "The Lord is with you when you are with him. If you seek him, he will be found by you, but if you forsake him, he will forsake you."(2 Chronicles 15:2)

He never leaves you, you in your desire and blindness turn the back on him cause you want to do what you want and you don't want to learn.

Jesus never leaves you, you run into trouble cause you don't hear him and then cry out for him to rescue and still put the guilt on him...
