your doc.will take a blood sample from you.depending on the results he will ref you to a hopital
there you will be given a physical to check for enlargement of the lymph nodes spleen and liver.
you will be given another blood test to examine levels of particular blood cells.not bad so far is it .
if you blood showsleukaemia you will need bone marrow transplant bone marrow is tested by taking a small amount of marrow from the hip bone you will be given a sedative and a local anaesthetic.its a bit painful but it only takes 15 minutes. it is usually done in the ward.the best of luck i hope you get a good result from your blood test

A bone marrow biopsy would be done to examine your bone marrow after a review of a blood smear.
I am a RN in a cancer unit.
Pts with CLL usually have a high wbc count which is the 1st thing noticed.

Normal range for white blood cells is around 5,000 - 10,500
Normal red blood cell range is around 4.6 - 6.0 (males ) and 4.2 - 5.0 ( females ). In Leukemia the wbc's are way high. Usually, 30,000 or even much higher. Hope this helps :)
btw, the red blood cells are the numbers above in millions.

How is leukemia diagnosed?
If your doctor thinks you might have leukemia, he or she will ask questions about your past and present symptoms, do a physical exam, and order blood tests.

If your blood tests are not normal, you may need a test of cells from inside your bone, called a bone marrow biopsy. Bone marrow cells give key information for diagnosing most kinds of leukemia.
