Because, Cain went to the Land of Nod and married one of the women there. Huh?

After some research, I found a version of genesis that claimed both Cain and Abel had twin sisters that they married.
Yay for incest. After eight hundred years of child bearing Eve must have dropped near on a hundred plus kids. So at least this book isn't totally inconsistent.

Nod means "fugitiveness".
Basically, because of becoming a murderer, Cain was banished. He was obliged to go to the 'area of banishment', or the land of Nod.
Nowhere is there an indication anyone already lived there.
BTW He took a wife with him. He did not find one in the land of banishment.

Adam and Eve lived hundreds of years..they had MANY children, not just the 3 who are named (Cain, Abel and Seth). Although it sounds horrible, Cain married one of his sisters..Incest wasnt forbidden by God until the time of Moses, when the imperfections in humanity made having a baby with a close relative dangerous. Excellent question, Mathilda. These are exactly the sorts of questions that thinking people raise when faced with a literal interpretation of the stories in Genesis.

Adam and Eve were not the first human beings; they were sent to Earth almost 38,000 years ago at a time when the world was well populated.

The answers to all your Adam and Eve questions can be found in the book Adam and Eve - A Tragic Love Story. I think you'll really enjoy it. Good luck to you!

The Land of Nod (Hebrew: ’eretz-Nod) is a place in the Book of Genesis of the Hebrew Bible, located "to the east of Eden", to which Cain was banished after murdering his brother Abel. The Hebrew word nod means "wandering".

"And Cain went out from the presence of the LORD, and dwelt in the land of Nod, on the east of Eden." (Genesis 4:16, King James Version)
"Nod" (נוד) is the Hebrew root of the verb "to wander" (לנדוד) and is possibly an etymological etiology intended to explain the peripatetic lifestyle of Cain and his descendants, the Cainites. One interpretation of Genesis 4:16 is that Cain was cursed to wander the land forever, not that he was exiled to a "Land of Wanderers", otherwise absent from the Old Testament.

Adam and Eve had many children after they had Cain and Abel. Obviously we are not given every detail since the narrative is in a condensed form. In fact, I watched one show where they showed Adam and Eve had 42 children before Cain killed Abel. There could be true!

God filled the earth with males and females in His likeness, long before He made Adam to till the soil.
Wow I do not believe these answers,God put a protective mark on Cain so no man would hurt him during his wandering,His wife came from Nod He built a entire city and gave birth to one of the holiest men in the Bible,Enoch, who walked with God.If there were no people why would God put a protective mark on Him

Cain have married his sister without knowing that she is his sister by Adam and Eve. Can't you imagine the length of time that Adam and Eve live for many hundred of years . Have you read the bible ?

Gen 4:16 And Cain went out from the presence of the LORD, and dwelt in the land of Nod, on the east of Eden.
Gen 4:17 And Cain knew his wife; and she conceived, and bare Enoch: and he builded a city, and called the name of the city, after the name of his son, Enoch.
Gen 5:1 This is the book of the generations of Adam. In the day that God created man, in the likeness of God made he him;
Gen 5:2 Male and female created he them; and blessed them, and called their name Adam, in the day when they were created.
Gen 5:3 And Adam lived an hundred and thirty years, and begat a son in his own likeness, after his image; and called his name Seth:
Gen 5:4 And the days of Adam after he had begotten Seth were eight hundred years: and he begat sons and daughters:
Gen 5:5 And all the days that Adam lived were nine hundred and thirty years: and he died.
Gen 5:6 And Seth lived an hundred and five years, and begat Enos:
Gen 6:1 And it came to pass, when men began to multiply on the face of the earth, and daughters were born unto them,
Gen 6:2 That the sons of God saw the daughters of men that they were fair; and they took them wives of all which they chose.
Gen 6:3 And the LORD said, My spirit shall not always strive with man, for that he also is flesh: yet his days shall be an hundred and twenty years.
Gen 6:4 There were giants in the earth in those days; and also after that, when the sons of God came in unto the daughters of men, and they bare children to them, the same became mighty men which were of old, men of renown.

Alot of people have never questioned the bible etc. When god supposedly created the first people it does not say that those were the only people...for all we know god created many little gardens of eden all over the world(universe)
Personally I find it impossible to believe any of it

You are wrong! The bible doesn't say he married a woman from Nod. Get your facts right. He was married before he slew his brother and was banished from Eden.

I'm not defending the bible, but you really should make more of an effort before you try and criticise.

It is a story handed down over many generations. Most people including christians do not actually take it as literal truth

I guess Cain married his sister since there was no one else around apart from the family of Adam and Eve the first couple.
