I would think that would depend greatly on the camera. I have owned a Sanyo digital camera since 1999, and have been very happy with it. I only just replaced it with something else because the technologies have advanced so much I could now get an even smaller camera with lots more features than were available then. I bought my Sanyo after a trip to Japan for some technical training at a Toshiba factory. Many of the instustuctors owned Sanyo cameras and were very happy with them. I had a lot of trouble at the that time finding them for sale in the US, but just because they aren't widely sold in the US doesn't mean they don't exist! My new camera is neither a Cannon or a Sanyo - this time I went with a Sony as it had all the features I wanted at the price I wanted to spend. But I still have my Sanyo. My only complaint with the Sanyo over the years was that the batteries didn't last at all. I used rechargable nmhi batteries, had 3 sets and tried to keep at least one extra set fully charged everytime I took pictures - and NEVER traveled without my battery charger. But at the time I bought that camera Cannon was just as poorly rated for battery life. That's one thing that has been vastly improved upon over the years in all the good cameras (I think). My new Sony has a rechargable battery that seems to last forever!! If I was you I'd compare features and buy the camera that gives you the features you want at the price you want to spend. Any camera can take good pictures. Think about what you want to do with the camera. WIll you need a zoom? Go for optical over digital zoom. Do you want to print LARGE pictures? go for a camera that can give you a higher pixel count. Will you carry it alot? go for smaller size. And I'd always go for a rechargeable battery over disposable. Good Luck!

Hands down, Canon. At every level from compacts to DSLRs.
The image quality is better. No questions.
Sanyo is a newbie. They do not have the culture nor the know-how. Give them a few decades and maybe they will be mentioned in the same breath at Canon and Nikon. Even before then, there are some second-stringers ahead of Sanyo, like venerable Olympus, Sony, Panansonic and even Samsung.

Cameras have been Canon's primary business for 70 years. Sanyo is an electronics company that's recently started making digital cameras.
Go with Canon to save yourself an exercise in frustration.

My dad and mom nevertheless have a Kodak digicam from the Seventies. It nevertheless works super. Kodak and Canon make high quality cameras. they have considering the fact that in the previous the digicam got here to be. Sanyo is a electronics organization and the cameras are good. look at your needs and choose a digicam from Olympus, Fuji, Kodak, Canon, Nikon, Leica, or Konika Minolta. All of those manufacturers have made high quality cameras for some years. And all have made cameras that stood the try of time.
