Lately a few christians have told me that the world itself is evidence of God. that the complicity of the world and humans and everything proves there is a God. But there are an infinite number of possiblities as to why this is. Why does it have to mean a God? Couldn't it very well be that things turned out this way because if they hadn't we wouldn't exist? we could have been something else altogether, i suppose, and we just happened to turn out the way we are. and the way the world works, while it seems complicated, may really just be the only way it could work.

Sorry, william, evidence is a much better word to use. So: "Why does the fact the the world is here evidence of the existence of God?"

See you changed your wording. The Christians told you that the world is EVIDENCE of God's existence. The world is not PROOF of God's existence. You cannot PROVE God exists. If you could, then it would not take faith to believe in him, would it? So, just like our friend Martina who asked "What's wrong with not believing in things that you cannot prove?" you are basically asking the same thing. Prove to me that God exists and I will believe. God will not PROVE he exists. He exists. He IS life. Believe, or don't believe. No skin off God's nose if you don't but it just might make a difference to you which you choose.

Remember, God loves you even if you don't believe in him and he will always welcome you, no matter how long you deny he exists. Any time you change your way of thinking, he is ready to accept you.

Both the Bible and good philosophy report that God is non-physical - spirit. In John 4:24 it is said that God is spirit (see also Luke 24:39; Romans 1:20; Colossians 1:15; 1 Timothy 1:17). This is why no material thing was to be used to represent God (Exodus 20:4). But this can also be shown by reflecting on what God is. Philosophically the same truth comes through. All that is created is necessarily finite and limited. But the first cause (God) is uncreated, and therefore must be non-finite, or infinite. That which is beyond the finite must, by definition, be infinite, and the Bible states that God is beyond creation (1 Kings 8:27; Job 11:7-9; Isaiah 66:1-2; Colossians 1:17). That which is physical cannot be infinite - for you cannot add finite parts together until they reach infinity. Therefore God is spirit as opposed to physical/material in His Being. This does not mean He cannot localize a physical appearance. God is not composed of matter nor any other imaginable substance. He also cannot be measured, is not spatial, and has no true location (presence is a different concept. I also believe that God has put things here specifically for our enjoyment like certain foods, love, beauty, etc...And finally there are mysteries like evil, why we feel nakedness, healing, etc... that to me indicate another spiritual dimension at the very least.

no .

'Lately a few christians have told me that the world itself is evidence of God'

this is a bad evidence .. or weak ..
let me explain , when a christian use the word GOD , it usually meant a biblical God , similarly , if a Muslim use the word God , it refers to their Allah .

so when the christian said the world itself to be evidence of god , muslim could also said it's the work of allah , and other believers will also similarly claim it to be the work of THEIR god .

different people have different perception of god , you could even say that the singularity in which Big Bang occurs is actually a god ..
some people perception of god is the universe and everything.

it doesnt necessary have to be a divine being , a single or multiple being , concious or not.

so the world itself , can be created by a scientific ' god ' , if you understand what i mean , and not necessary a specific god from any religion

A basic law of science is that nothing happens unless an exterior force acts upon the situation.
Left to itself, anything will deteriorate, not improve.

You have received this message.
What can you conclude?
That I do not exist?
Or, even though you don't know me, nor where I am, still I AM out there and intelligent enough to accomplish certain things.
