I think the comparison is fitting. I don't really have the slightest idea of what's going on in F-1 and don't think that will change.Like soccer, I'm sure its a good sport, I just don't have any interest in it.
Why people like Nathan B. have to make some big geo-political thing out of it is beyond.

I love, appreciate, and respect them both. I love getting up early to watch an F1 race or setting the alarm for 3am to watch. F1 is the pinnacle of motorsport worldwide. period. whether you like that or accept it or not. But that doesnt mean America and Nascar dont have its share of top talent as well. Of course a Jeff Gordon or Tony Stewart could have cut it in F1. And Schumacher would have been great in Nascar. This F1 vs. nascar is making people as irrational as Republicans vs Democrats. Like the one you like and stop calling the other side idiots. I too, once thought F1 was boring but once I started watching, I got completely hooked and big time. The two are nothing alike and I like it that way. Nascar is a cold tall draft beer and F1 is a glass of fine wine. It depends on what you're in the mood for.

I prefer Nascar by far. I enjoy races where the drivers actually take chances to win the race.
Nathan B,
I would like to point some things out to you. You talk about F1 having a longer history. Russia has a longer history but I don't want to live there. Another point is when Nascar held races in Canada and Mexico this year both countries set new attendance records for any racing event. Lastly, Why are so many F1 drivers now talking about or actually moving to Nascar? Maybe they see the writing on the wall.

When I was living in Europe I followed F1, and found it fast, fun, very Jet Set crowd.. I missed Nascar big time, I had to read about it in papers, and very limited amount ever got shown on TV...I came back to states and lived in Long Beach, CA where we use to have the F1 race there it was great, back when James Hunt, and Jody Scheckter, Nelson Piquet...But F1 left long beach, and I have found it hard to get back into...so I'm back to my roots Nascar thats what I grew up with, and I just enjoy it better, being on the west coast, I find it very hard to get up on Sunday morning to watch a live race at 4:30 in the morning thats when most f1 races come on.... I just prefer Nascar...and I do watch soccer also..

Nascar gets played on the Major Network, and several cable channels. F1 most;y gets played on SpeedTV only.
Nascar gets played in the afternoon, or evening, live. F1 lives could be at any hour
Nascar has popular drivers, most of them born in the United States. Most Americans do not even know who drives in F1.
Many Nascar fans prefer oval tracks, and get bored with the two road courses. F1 is only road courses.

I would have to wake up too early to watch F1 except when it is run at Indy and since I can't afford a ticket I could go down by the Speedway and listen to he engines and smell the fuel. Nascar is being played in prime time so no sweat. I used to race go-karts, so I can relate to F1 open wheel, but I also raced prostock dirt cars so I can relate to NASCAR. But so far I can understand NASCAR drivers when they talk and have trouble understanding F1 drivers, SSSOOO,NASCAR WINS!

Not hardly. I have no idea how many watch one NASCAR race but I bet you do.
I would say F1 per race has a better average though. The final race in 2006 was supposedly had 154 million watch it.
Not sure how many watch NASCAR and I know there are a lot but I doubt if there is that many. Especially at Homestead. What a goofy place to end the season. But I guess it only goes with a horrible chase they came up with too.

Pretty similar situation alright. F1 and soccer are immensley popular all around the world except the states and the other 2 are only popular in the states.
jesus some people here really show there ignorence. Charles for example: we just said how its not popular in the states but is huge everywhere else. But as he is too narrowminded to see the facts that NASCAR is not shown ANYWHERE else outside of the states he presumes its more popular everywhere....
F1 is shown on speed tv in the states and on primetime tv in all other parts of the world, 6billion people live in the world, 300million people live in america and half of them dont give a shite about NASCAR, so which do you think is bigger? NASCAR of course.... NASCAR is not shown live ANYWHERE in Europe, Australia, Asia or South America.
