What makes you think we don't? You can't judge how often somebody (as in, an American) does something if you've never met them. Most of us do, in fact, take baths or showers everyday, so I don't know where you're coming from. Then again, there's some who don't. Point being, it doesn't matter if we're American or not, some people take showers everyday, others don't.

Because with baths you are stewing in dead cell soup.
We prefer showers and the average American takes one
or two of them a day. With a trip to the gym and extra hot
weather..sometimes three showers a day is appropriate.

Where did you get the crazy idea we don't like to be clean?
I had a foreigner tell me that they thought all Americans
smelled like soap or detergent.

This American showers daily, which is cleaner than a bath.

I don't know where this myth about Americans got started, but you've got the wrong country in mind. We are an obsessively hygenic people.

I think this is a troll post. Someone who has been offended and is bitter. Typically, American bathe 2-3 times a day. It's more true that Brazillians do not. That is the sterotype, at least.

And the Award for "Broadest Generalization of the Day" goes to....

It's the French who don't bathe every day, you moron!

We Americans love our showers. Who wants to take a bath, and lie around in your own filthy water, full of the junk you've been scrubbing off your body?!?

Baths were obviously invented in Europe. Showers are true blue Americana!

Maybe you mean South Americans? I haven't been there so I cannot comment. But those of us in North America -- the U.S. and Canada do try to shower/bathe every day (well, except for my 10-year-old son who always tries to get out of it, but don't they all?). The only people I know who don't are those with extremely dry skin, or those who are ill.

Every one I know takes a shower everyday. You don't say what country you are from. We here in the United States are under the assumption that Europeans don't take showers every day and that's why they have a strong body odor. What makes you think that Americans aren't clean? The United States is the cleanest nation that I know of. I've been to alot of places and from my experience the U.S. is the cleanest around. Both population and land wise. I seriously think you are misinformed.

FYI= the ONLY time that i didn't shower daily, was when i had a sick new born in the hospital fighting for his life. sorry if that makes me "piggish" but i wasn't leaving my baby alone.

aaaaand, most new mothers don't have the luxury of showering every day it's only a fantasy.

I am sorry you are truly mistaken I am an American living in Europe and showering daily is purely an American thing. Europeans for the most part do not shower daily and most do not wear deodorant although both are becoming more and more common here.

I love to shower daily. It makes me feel great and wakes me up for the day.

I am curious where you got your information because most Americans do bathe daily.

Yes, it is a blessing. Fresh water is always a blessing.
