A director is talking about the movie saying:
"I think that's clear but sometimes it isn't.
In the theater sometimes that line, which I love, is, "Whap them, whap them!". It always struck me as funny."

What does "clear" mean in this sentence?
Does it mean "can' hear", or "it get laugh but sometimes it doesn't" ?

Please help me!

In the movie "Whap them, whap them!" is kind of joke.
And as he watched it and commented "I think that's clear but sometimes it isn't."

Does he mean that this joke is obvious?
