HELP! On start up I have a gzmrotate.dll that pops up. I heard it's dangerous malware and I have the registry key I think but don't know where in the registry to find it can someone HELP me!!!

You might also have luck with SPYBOT or HIJACK THIS! as well as WINDOWS DEFENDER.

go to run type regedit , then open up your entire registry tree when you find it , before you delete it make a restore point then go back and remove it you can also run scan disc after removal then defrag . if you can't find it on the tree get in touch with your virus protection tech.then run ad aware - i find that spybot can take out dills that you need that's why 1 of my PC is now running on windows me instead of xp home.

Ok first of all download Spybot Search and destroy found at http://www.spybot.com and get the updates

Then go into safe mode and run it. It should remove any malware you have

You will want to print out or copy these instructions to Notepad for Safe Mode/offline reference! Perhaps also save the file on your pc.

(to be sure to see all folders)
Check the Windows Explorer "View" options --- set it to show you all folders; all system folders; & hidden files.
Bring up Windows Explorer / Tools / Folder Options/ select VIEW Tab and look at all of settings listed.

"CHECK" (turn on) Display the contents of system folders.

Under column, Hidden files and folders----choose ( *select* ) Show hidden files and folders.
Next, un-check Hide extensions for known file types.
Next un-check Hide protected operating system files.



Please download ATF Cleaner by Atribune, saving it to your desktop.
This program is for XP and Windows 2000 only


Double-click ATF-Cleaner.exe to run the program.

Under Main choose: Select All

Click the Empty Selected button.


If you use Firefox browser:


Click Firefox at the top and choose: Select All

Click the Empty Selected button.

NOTE: If you would like to keep your saved passwords, please click No at the prompt.


If you use Opera browser:


Click Opera at the top and choose: Select All

Click the Empty Selected button.

NOTE: If you would like to keep your saved passwords, please click No at the prompt.


Click Exit on the Main menu to close the program.

ATF Cleaner should be run with the above settings in each User Profile! Don't forget to do this.



2. Download , Save & then install the latest version of AVG AntiSpyware from http://www.ewido.net/en/download/

Close all open windows/programs/folders. Have nothing else open while AVG A-S performs its scan!
Launch AVG Anti-spyware by double-clicking the icon on your desktop.


Click the Update Now line to get latest definition updates, and wait for them to complete.

Select the "Scanner" icon at the top and then the "Scan" tab then click on "Complete System Scan".

AVG will now begin the scanning process, be patient this may take a little time.
Once the scan is complete do the following:

If you have any infections you will prompted, then select "Apply all actions"




Now close AVG A-S.

3. Run this online virus scan using Internet Explorer browser: ActiveScan
You will need to download an ActiveX Control of run the scan. Should you encounter a prompt saying "Click here to use this control", click there.


After scanning, you'll see an option to create a log afer the scan has finished. =
5. If you already had a copy of SilentRunners, then, Find the folder / location where you saved Silent Runners. Delete it.

Next, download a new copy of Silentrunners from http://www.silentrunners.org
Save it to your system, first. Do not run it straight away from download site.

Run it.

you can switch to a free secure linux operating system and you wont have these problems
