Someone should entitle a biography the SOB who Cared. LBJ 's main political goal was to have & too hold power so he could do what he wanted to do which was to end poverty & racial discrimination. For a man who was hated by his cloest most intimate friends, a man who was aware of his negative qualities, LBJ truly wanted good things, his goals were noble and as a Southerner and a Texan he was quite simply the only man who could push through the Civil Rights Legislation. On a good/bad character note, LBJ had been in the Senate for more than a Decade, and he was good pals with FBI Director J Edgar Hoover, both men loved raunchy jokes and collecting dirt on everyone. J Edgar Hoover had dirt on everyone in Congress. LBJ would casually call Senators & Congressmen into his office, lay down a few raunchy photos along with detailed notes on what was known about that persons peculiarities, and them calmly announced, "I will have your vote on this issue."

Congress bent to LBJ and aside from the Vietnam War great things happened. But it must be admitted LBJ wanted power, he loved Power, he liked calling the shots, his ego was as enormous as Texas.

Peace..........
