I don't smoke myself gave up 20yrs ago, I don't have a problem with smokers its my choice to sit with them or not. The only thing with the smoking ban in pubs is, they all stand outside the pub doors. if they have to have a rule it should be a room for smokers & one for non. I have been to a pub & they have one room for the smokers with pool darts etc then a room for non smokers at then end they had put in a family room. Everyone was happy, you could go in which part you wanted even the garden!!

Yes the smoking ban is absolutely ludicrous. Anyone who says it's not should think about it!
Many pubs have closed in my local area and many more are due to close. People are becoming anti-social, smoking in front of their children who then start smoking themselves, and lots of people are now out of work with many to follow. The government do nt have the right to stop smoking and should remember that a pub is a 'public house' for adults who smoke!.

I do not agree, as a once heavy smoker now stopped and ill because of it, it is no more correct to stop people smoking than it is to ask the non smokers to support it, so there should be a SMOKE ROOM as there was before that turned into the lounge, the people who should pay are the Cigarette Makers, they should be taxed high and NOT allowed to pass the cost to the customer, and this money should go to investing into a way to help those who do smoke, and not into the Big Government Pocket.

I am a smoker, but I totally accept that not everyone wants or need my smoke in their face. I do think though that the ban is not totally fair. Yes, give people that dont want to be in a smoking environment a right to smoke free zones, but hang on why cant smokers have a right to areas they can smoke. Ok it is an health issue, but then so is alchohol, there are a lot of people hurt due to over indulgence of this by 'other people', but will they stop people going into pubs if they drink alchohol. I dont think so!

As a smoker, i replaced into very visit awaken this morning and hear that smoking in my vehicle - which I do many times - is now banned. No notice, no warning. My vehicle isn't a employer vehicle, I infrequently have passengers (and if I do, i do no longer smoke) and that i do no longer put off my cigarettes out of my window. I even have been smoking longer than I even have been using, and that i'm able to easily locate and lightweight a cigarette devoid of taking my eyes off the line - i detect it greater distracting attempting to alter the radio station. And in 15 years of smoking mutually as using, I even have never as quickly as dropped a cigarette in my lap. After a splash bit examine, besides the undeniable fact that, i found that smoking isn't banned, as such - it incredibly is in basic terms against suggestion. while you're using dangerously, committing a using offence or in contact in an coincidence mutually as smoking, then you somewhat'll face a greater intense penalty. besides the undeniable fact that, smoking on your vehicle is seen inadvisable quite than unlawful and a contributary element in case you do something incorrect. So, I shall nonetheless be thankfully lighting fixtures up mutually as using - it is bearing directly to the only place i'm able to smoke devoid of pissing somebody off in recent times.

I completely agree with the smoking ban!
Isn't it about time that the rights of non smokers were enforced?

I agree,Sexypaintbabe, but it is the usual sledghammer aproach. Why could we not have smoking rooms in public buildings with smoke extraction equipment, then those with a death wish could get on with it and not endanger other people. I apologise on behalf of reasonable people for the unwarranted attack on your question by the more biased of our brethren

smoking ban in public places is actually a very good idea. Smoking kill million of people around the world every year. It's a very bad and unhealthy habit. In some countries, fine and imprisonment is the punishment for violators of the smoking ban

What do you mean 'ludicrous'!?
It's ludicrous that these idiotic people i.e smokers have the right kill other people. I have the right to eat in a restaurant without getting a whif of smoke from another table.
Why do you care anyway?
You don't smoke so why should it affect you?
If you want a special pub for smokers then build your own one you lazy sod.
EDIT: nicotine1979, how the HELL can you build your own 'smoking bar'? The whole idea of the smoking ban is that it's BANNED in public places you f*ckwit. Do yourself a favour and get a brain.
The smoker's answers on here are pretty stupid and to be honest, they're not doing you any favours. It's just making you sound even more selfish and retarded than people first assumed. And bethan, that's a disgusting attitude towards it. My grandma smoked for the majority until she had to have a triple heart bypass at 59. You're gonna learn the heard way when you can't even breathe for yourself and have to have a hole in your blummin neck. Who cares about your mum's age? She's probably got grey skin and a mouth like a cat's a*se. Grow up. You sound pathetic.

I smoke and I've found that there's more craic outside of the pub than inside. You meet people from inside the pub that you wouldn't normally talk to. I've seen non smokers outside too with their friends because they know themselves that there's more going on outside.
