He has been a great servant to England over the years but I would be very surprised if he made the WC squad. He has looked ok recently but that’s coz AC Milan don’t have a lot a pace in the team, while in the Liverpool match I don’t remember Maxi trying to take him on once. Let’s not forget the Leeds game earlier in the season when he got absolutely raped by a League 1 player. Johnson is by some distance England’s best right-back, while I’m sure Capello will take Brown as he can cover at right-back and centre-back. Only if one of these two is out injured will Neville come into contention.

Even though im a Man Utd fan i have been thinking the same, i wonder if Neville will become another Solskjaer, just drifting off into retirement. However, that thought immediately becomes irrelevant when i recall moments of bravado by Neville which showed how courageous Neville is when faced with a challenge. That is why he has put in so much work for United, and he will not give up his England place without a fight and a half, mark my word. It will be a hard fight, but he will be back in one way or another.

Gary Neville has been one of the most underated players to play for England in the last 10 years but like Beckham Age & Injuries are catching up with him

When fit he brings experince to the team but may have to get used to juist being a Squad player the way Richards is playing

Not a chance if you ask me. Lets move forward and give Micah Richards a run of games, he's certainly good enough for playing right back and i think england look better when he's bombing forward. He's so powerful and when was the last time you seen gary neville do that? He doesn't, so keep him as back up i say and let richards keep the place.

Richards played excellent and can only get better playing against the top teams.
Give a good run in the team but have neville on the bench as backup.

Micah R will end up at centre back when one of Rio or JT gets injured, as they do from time to time. Garry Neville's first battle is getting back in the United side. However, if fully fit (big IF) and if back to his usual standard (even bigger IF), he is the best English right back there is, and has been for many a year.

I think Micah Richards has proved to us all he is very talented, and it would be hard for Mcclaren to leave such a great player out. We will have to see how G Neville does for his club, until he , if he ever is, put back into the England side.
