Trick question. Lines of latitude define distances both north and south of the equator. They can use projection maps to describe distances north and south of the equator because projection maps include both. Projection maps are used by cartographers to show the curvature of the earth, think of a classroom globe of the earth.

If you want to be accurate though, scientists your latitude and longitude in order to locate a specific point on a map.

The answer is "a" only.Projection maps gives the distances between all places available in the map,whether north or south.But we want specifically the distance of a place lying either north or south of the equator only.Hence the answer.
