currently i have 512 ram i have a asus p5p800 motherboard
3Ghz processor and 120 gb hard drive

what would be the max i could do could i get 2 gb of ram?
how much would that be?

Your motherboard supports up to 4X1Gb ddr400 RAM. For 2 Gb set up, best would be 4x512mb or 2x1Gb so that dual channel memory is enabled.

If Pentium 3 The Maximum is 768Mb Ram
If Pentium 4/Pentium D The Maximum is 2gb/4gb Ram

Yes, your mother boards manual will tell you how much RAM it supports. It will definently support 2GB, and maybe 4GB.
You need to check what type of RAM it support, e.g. DDR or DDR-2 or something else. Then you need to see how many RAM slots you have on your mother board.

u can get 2gb of ram.. and if u get it cheap like newegg u can get two 1GB sticks for less than $70


so...... to recap... 2GB ram for $70 or less if u pay more ur getting ripped off.

if u pay $60 or less then u are getting a very good deal
