No. What's scary is that they let entertainment media tell them how to vote.

College age voters are typically scary voters. I believe Churchill said something to the effect that younger voters vote emotionally and older voters vote intellectually. The generation that has been parked in front of the TV for an average of 3 hours a day being able to vote is the scarier idea (MTV isn't the only crap filling young minds).
Or how about - people who grew up watching the Daily Show can now vote. *shudder*.

It's not scary that the type of people who enjoy MTV can now vote. What is scary is that the type of people who enjoy MTV don't vote.

Modern MTV is marketed to people between 12 and 16. So they can't vote yet.
I get your point though, and it's pretty spooky. But then again, the fact that the demographics that are associated with a wide range of television channels are able to be active voters can sometimes be concerning. I guess you just have to hope for the best in everyone.

Well it is not like the middle aged white men born in the early post war era are doing a great job of running the country. Perhaps a little youthful exhuberance and passion could help.

hell no!! This generation is voting on our futures, though we don't vote because we've realized there wont be a country left because of ***** like you telling us the government is wrong, and complaining about what the government hasnt done, when reality shows its your personal responsibility as a citizen to do. the country is in a terrible state because petty is important to you people.shame on you.

Actually, I find it scarey that the mentally ill, and the retarded, and the alcoholics, and the drug addicts, and the people who did not graduate high school, and the people who are members of the KKK can all vote.
This is much more scarey than people who enjoy a good video or reality show.

Have you seen MTV, no one enjoys it.
MTV is for kids who can't find a way to access porn without being found out by their parents.

So you are saying that the "Millennial" age group should not be allowed to decide how we want our own futures to play out? Millennial being anyone born after 1985. It's not our fault that there will be no social security. It's not our fault that our parents have linear mindsets and do not "think outside the box". Basing our intellectual stability in the matter of voting on a TV show that is entertaining because it addresses problems with society in a humorous manor is quite ridiculous. I think you should look at what YOUR generation, and preceding generations, have provided for MY generation to fix before you make accusations about a generation as a whole. I am 17 by the way and am tired of my parents' generation looking down their noses at me for being different in a non-linear fashion. Change is good, and it is inevitable. So before you attack people solely on their differences, think about what you are actually doing. It will probably help you with your own self-conscious issues.

"kids" have been able to vote for a long time.
I'm 30, and I grew up on old MTV. What is scary about younger people voting? Younger people are concerned with the solvency of social security. Younger people are concerned with the solvency of MediCare. Younger people are concerned about the prospect of an Iraq draft.
So no, I do not find it scary that people who enjoy MTV can now vote.
What I do find scary is that more people vote for American Idol than American President.
