Since you failed the american public.

= = = =
Ive asked this already, and received the sametype of answers that only showed a lack of understandign of the proces I propose.

#1: every year, each politician will stand before oversight committe and forced to answer questions best of their knoweledge.
Questions asked by both sides.

#2: if answers given prove false.
example: AG, cant recall. and find he was lying.
Move to a investigation on intentioanl misconduct.
If found guilty, public servant does jail time for abusing his power.

#3: thats it. Simple mandatory Q&A.
No curruption since its just asking questions.

Politicians who choose to lie and are caught do the time for their crime.

WHY ISNT THIS A GOOD IDEA???
WOULD YOU VOTE FOR IT?

The oversight committee is a round table of questioneers.
Plain and simple.

Ask questions have them answered.
A collective effort, where its more of a general function.

Whoever has questions for a politician can submit them to a group appointed leader from both sides of the aisle.

Plain and simple.

I would vote for this measure, and in fact I would lobby for this law to be passed. Too many politician have lost sight of what their intended job was when they took office, which is to serve their constituancy, and that includes being accountable to them for their actions. If "Senator Joe" is to serve in the best interest of those who elected him, then complete disclosure of all activities related to his political career should be mandatory. And any withheld truths or lies should be prosecuted to the full extent of the law. No excuses, no lienency. These men and women should be obligated to do their job to the best of their ability and in good faith. If they cannot do that, then they need to be not only punished, but removed from their office.

BUT (and there's always a but)

this disclosure should not pertain to a politician's personal life unless it is something of public record such as a criminal offense. I don't feel that it is necessary for me to know if my state representative has a medical issue, but it is imperative that I know if he engages or has engaged in criminal activities, simply because my tax dollars are paying his salary.

As far as finances, I feel that a complete disclosure of all funding be available for the same "oversight committee", (so it can be determined if a politician is being "bought") I would also be including office budgets, from salaries right down to postage and pencils. If it is found that bribery or theft is occurring on these levels, then the politician should be held responsible, plain and simple.

Over all, the majority of politicians are good, hardworking people who will not mind one bit if their records are scrutinized. Those that do have an objection obviously have something to hide, and that is not the kind of person I want representing me.

Who runs the oversight committee? If someone lies, what forces Congress to follow through?

There is an old saying that the way you know a politician is lying is that his/her lips are moving.

Let me see, do I understand you correctly? If a politician misbehaves, you want to treat him or her like politicians are treated in some Asian or African third world country? Interesting.
