I hear people say good-Visual BASIC, really? In the end more studious? Can design 3D games? The operating system can be designed? If not design the operating system, Microsoft is not afraid of people using it to design the operating system?

Make a video Game?
You can do it I guess, but it may not the best tool for the job, VB's strengths are that it is a beginners language (hence the name) and it is easy to work with strings (no pointers or arrays as in C)

You can access the GDI and easily do some basic graphics with VB, I used VB to create a graph of some production data at work. VB has capabilities to easily provide some nice features to your apps. But it seems to me that if your going to be doing some advanced work like designing a Cadd system or an OS it may not be the best tool for the job

i dont know man, a 3d game written by vb will be quite a mother load for any computer to handle.

microsoft using vb to write an operating system? honestly, that's like using toothpicks to build a life size white house.

if don't know vb yet, save urself the trouble and go the extra mile to learn C++ as your first language. don't let vb spoil you.
