You have to listen to Kenny Roger's "Good Friend"
Good friend, why did you have to go?
Just when I was getting to know you
I'll sing this song to show
You were a good friend
They don't make 'em quite like you
And in my memory
You'll always be a good good friend to me.

I do understand...I lost my son to suicide and it was so hard. But listening to only sad songs is indulging your pain and the cost can be really high. You can lose months or years in a painful fog. Eventually you will realize that you need to turn away from your loss and get back to living. It has been six years and it still sneaks up on me but I have learned that wading in pain up to my neck does not change anything. I have learned to step back and turn my thoughts to something less painful. Indulging your grief is like picking at your wounds ... they need care to heal not probing.

It's not a 'friend passed away' song, but 'You might recall' by genesis is all about what might have been. It's on the Three Sides Live album and 'B' side of Paperlate. Totally beautiful song and heart wrenching at same time.

I am sorry to hear of your loss... I have lost a lot of close people to me also.
My sister was killed almost 4 years ago, and the song "Mama's fallen Angel" by Poison reminds me of her.
My cousin was killed this past March and his favorite song was "Long Haired Country Boy".
Try not to dwell on those you have lost, as much as those who are still here with us. The ones you have lost don't want you to spend the rest of your life crying over them. Live a long, happy, joyous life.. You'll see them again someday, when the time is right.
