I know plenty. & they figure they can have authority over adults nowadays. How is it that a 16-yr. old child-teen employee for McDonald's has the authority & the right to kick a 65 yr. old man out of a restaurant? Does age matter anymore when it comes down to authority & respect? Most police officers in their 20's have the authority to detain a 70-yr. old.

Also, I see lots of people 14 yrs. old & boss around their parents, & their parents are scared to discipline & punish them because they feel like no method works. Teens these days make their parents cry. If you punish a child from a party, they're gonna sneak out & go anyway. But if a teen is doing something wrong, & a family member corrects their behavior, then the parent makes it like they don't have to obey them. & now, some but not all teens are clever con artists & they think they know more than we do as older people. What's your feedback on this issue? Is it fair, not fair?

Almost every single teenager in the world think they are smarter than their parents. It's sad that they have to find out the hard way that they aren't. If my teens (when they were teens) would have tried to boss me around it would have been too bad for them. And God help them if they hit me. I brought them into this world and I can take them OUT! My adult children would never consider any of the things you mentioned. At least it would never get back to me if they did or they'd still be in big trouble!

I'm 17 right now and I consider myself pretty mature. Many ppl have told me that so please dont stereotype. But, yes, you are right that children need discipline to live a functional life. What I would disagree with is that if a person is older, it means they are more ethically sound than a teenager. Some of your examples I dont under. I mean why wouldnt a police officer be able to detain a 70 year old? What if he's a criminal? But anyhow, I know what you're getting at there should be more equality and understanding between age groups. That I agree with.

Good question!...I think all teens think they are smarter than adults. I believe this is because of a lack of respect in todays society. It is also a parental problem, I too know kids that boss their parents around and it amaze's the h** out of me, if you provide food, clothing, and shelter to these kids (not to mention expensive laptops, IPODS, and video games, etc...etc..) then why spoil them so much if they are such brats!

I am 27 years old and raised by a very old country family and my parents let me know how hard life is. Nothing is free and nothing good ever comes easy. I feel that I am blessed that I wasn't spoiled and will always be greatful to my mom and dad for teaching me bounderies.

I definately know kids who boss around their parents. It's rude and disrespectful, but the parent usually doesn't know what to do, or doesn't want to do anything. Why? I don't know. Some call it love, but what about respect? It's like the kids get a kick out of yelling at their parents. And this is the country we're living in; these kids are the future. Terrific.

i know alot of teens who think they're more grown or smarter than adults......they're usually very much mistaken.

I also think that in your second paragraph the parents are very much to blame for the situation getting as out of hand it it sometimes does. Lay down the law and be tough....my parents were. And I was a better person for it.

I teach high school, so I know many. It is a learned behavior. Parents need to act like parents and role models. Too many want to best friends with their kids. It's ok to be close, but there has to be a balance of discipline as well.

I'm a teen and I think I am more grown than some adults I know if you're talking about being more mature. Then yeah. Some adults I know are very immature. I think people should be judge on how they act and things they do rather than age. I don't think that's fair. There's stupid teens and stupid adults.

for generations teenagers are blamed for they're behavior, disrespect, etc.but it really is the parent who makes the rules but more importantly enforces them.
most teenagers are really good people and are very smart.if you spoil a child you get bad results, thats a fact.material things aren't what they want or need, they need an ear to listen to and guide them.you reap what you sow.plant a seed, daily care and it will flourish, ignore it and it dies.be kind to each other, life is good.everyone thought they knew it all in their teens.or were you the exception.??
