If it wasn't for Ohio State this conference would be screwed.
Why are all Mid West schools (Notre Dame) are struggling? is it because its hard to get recruits because of the weather in Florida, Texas, and Cali?

Actually alot of players choose schools in warm climates so they can work on speed all year round. And not have to run in a dome or facility.

First, we'll see next week when Ohio State comes to Washington to face the Huskies. I notice people talking about Washington being ranked (I'd be suprised if Washington was ranked after this week). I have a feeling Ohio State's just too talented for Washington. The Big 10 isn't overhyped or overrated. Penn State, Ohio State or Wisconsin (who barely beat UNLV, but whipped the WSU Cougars) could go undefeated this year. Cal and UCLA didn't win impressively this week, barely beating weak Colorado State and weak BYU (both Mountain West teams).

Arizona State won big against Big 12 North bottom-feeder Colorado. Oregon State was crushed by Big East Cinci. Oregon was the truly only impressive Pac-10 win this week, beating Big 10 Michigan. USC's last game was a clunker against perrenial lame-o's Idaho. Stanford and Arizona are an abomination and the worst Big 10 teams could crush them. I think Mississippi State and Vanderbilt could even crush them. That's how bad they are. Duke would have a good chance at beating them.

If the Big 10 has a bad year, it's an off year and nothing more. A few years ago, people were derisively calling the Pac-10, the "Wac-10." Every conference has its ups and downs, no conference clearly always dominates the others. Every conference has weak, bottom-feeders that make everyone else look bad, and every conference has their share of shattered hopes and major dissappointments (I remember a few years ago a Washington team ranked #2 under Jim Lambright getting crushed by Nebraska). So perhaps saying "our conference is better than yours" is pointless, ridiculous, and subject to change year-to-year.

One word answer:YES.

The Pac-10 Conference owns more NCAA Championships in all sports combined than any other conference. Look it up.

In football, I think the season's results will prove the PAC-10's supremacy. However, almost every year the teams within the PAC-10 are all very competitive, and tend to be good enough to beat each other on any given Saturday. People back east (sportswriters, producers, and other media-types) who never stay up late every week to watch an actual PAC-10 season, and who only look at win-loss records, never see this detail IMHO. While teams in other conferences who go 12-0 while beating 4 or 5 "gimmee" opponents get ranked. It's the same every year really. The only team west of the Mississippi that anyone in New York has even heard of is USC. What a joke.

"Spanning nearly a century of outstanding athletics achievement, the Pac-10 has captured 359 NCAA titles (254 men's, 105 women's), far outdistancing the runner-up Big Ten Conference's 212 titles." Pac-10 Website.

The Big 10 was good last year, not this year. I don't know where people are getting this idea that everyone is hyping up the conference this year. It's the SEC that the sports writers are in love with, just watch an episode of Sportscenter.

I'll give you this: the PAC-10 is good this year. However, every other year they are overrated because, as stated before, USC is in the conference.

The Mid West schools are struggling in my opinion because, seriously, what is there to do out in in the Mid-West outside of Chicago and some other places?

Texas is laid back, and California and Florida are just fun with many things to do.

A Quote from Andrew:

"This conference still has Ohio State, Wisconsin, and Penn State to fall back on these teams will still do well this year and for that the Big 10 is not that much over hyped. The most overhyped conference is the Pac-10 and the only reason for this is because they have USC in their conference."

Yeah... Wisconson who is ranked number 7 barely won one of the worst teams in all of Division 1A football. UNLV only one ONE game last year !!!! and lost all their keys players and had a FRESHMAN Quarterback on top of that playing his second game in college ever and Wisconson had to come from behind toward the end of the game to Win HAHAHAHAHAHA !!!!!! Yes BIG - 10 Is overated and over hyped.!!!!!!. Wait until Wisonson has to play some one good. Michigan getting a*ss whoped by a supposedly midle of the road team from the PAC -10. PAC 10 has Three teams in the top 12 and soon to be 4 (Oregon) are all in the PAC 10. How many does he Big ten have in the top 12 uuuhhhhh duhhhhhhh Not as many as the Pac 10

Quote from Thomas F

"actually the worst confrence is the pac 10 usc and others dont play anyone there daddies cant pay off sounds like your a begrudged nd fan boohoo only your bitchasses would blame weather on the fact that the lions whooped your butts"

You realy should think before you type. This statement just shows how Niave and pathetic you are. When your best team you have in the Big 10 at this point in time barely beats one of the worst if not the worst team in Divison 1A football (UNLV only won 1 game last year !!!) with a freshman quarterback that only has played one other game in his life of college football, then the Big Ten is in for a sorry *** year !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

First you need to notice that just because Michigan is in the Big 10 does not mean they are the Big 10. This conference still has Ohio State, Wisconsin, and Penn State to fall back on these teams will still do well this year and for that the Big 10 is not that much over hyped. The most overhyped conference is the Pac-10 and the only reason for this is because they have USC in their conference.

Sorry, but Ohio State isn't that good. 20-2 over a bad Akron team doesn't impress.

It's overrated this year as it was last year. Top to bottom it's weak, especially with teams like Illinois, Indiana, Minnesota, and Northwestern.

But the entire conference isn't absolutely horrible. Just Michigan.

I doubt that it's the weather.

Too many players go to the wrong schools for all the wrong reasons.

If the player graduates, he's better off with a degree from any Big 10 school.

Seriously, NO DOUBT! I honestly wish there was a way for the Rose Bowl to not invite the Big-10, I'd rather the BCS pay damages for breach of contract than having to watch the Big-10 play in a BCS bowl game.
HEY CHITOWN, you want to compare academics? How about Stanford, Berkeley, UCLA, and USC IN ONE STATE!!!! No one outside Ivy League can compare with that, don't even try, seriously, you must be kidding if you try.
