I've wondered why would people ask a question & then let it go to voting rather then return & give a best answer. Next 3 are of course all questions:
Are people just plain lazy, forget they asked a question or just could careless? Especially if it's a person on your contact list.

Hi it's AM here. There are at least 4 different questions I asked for the damn-5 points hopefully someone can answer all the question instead of just one at a time. And yes I always give a best vote. It's my choice. Rofl- as this is comical at times & therphy all rolled into one especially in my coditionI. Thanx ahead of time.

canis_sail LQQK arent you glad you got the 2 points? There are 4 questions here. And because I smoked to much weed is your answer.
DID YOU READ THE QUESTION? Cause I posted a question so you could give a crappy answer. Wonders aloud who's high?

For myself, if I can't decide a hands-down winner, I'll put it to a vote. If one answer stands out as best, I give the best answer award to that person. Some people must come here so infrequently they don't address this issue in a timely manner. There might be other reasons, but that one seems to make most sense to me.

I have done this and if it has annoyed you I am sorry.
I do it because I can't choose between two or more answers. If that is the case then I note which ones I like and ask for people to choose between them.
The other reason would be because I don't get a chance to get on YA all of the time and by the time I come back on my answers have gone to voting.
so no it's not cuz I'm lazy although that might be the case for some.
I'm sure if the questions was dumb and pointless then yeah they can forget or could just careless about it, but it is more likely that people just don't get on to check their questions as often as they would like.
I really don't think that people who are on contact lists get special treatment as far as best answers go. I'm not sure if I understand what you are asking there.
I hope this helps your frustration

I put one up once and waited for answers, then next thing I knew the best answer was picked by vote. I don't know when the cut-off is so I missed it. I tried a little harder mind you, when another question of mine got several honest answers and one that smacked of condescending self-righteousness. I had no intention of letting the snarky one get the vote.
But yeah, it isn't serious. Anyone who gets too serious about a thing like this needs to spend a little more time in live conversation.

Personally, I always give a Best Answer but it's so hard when all the answers are excellent, and I always feel that I'd like to give more than one Best Answer. One time the answers to a Mythology and Folklore question I posted were too good to be judged just by me, so I put that to Voting. I would love to be able to award stars to good answers that are not the Best Answer!

I don't care either way, but some people forget. Some people don't care, and others would like to know what the majority opinion is before making a decision. If I'm not sure of what is best, I'll see what the majority of people choose. Besides the fact that if your main goal is to help people and get advice yourself, you shouldn't care much whether your answer is chosen as best.

Maybe the person got hit by a car or had to go into work. There could be a million reasons for them not to choose a Best Answer.

Ever thought that maybe it's because they liked none of the answers and/or none of them really helped?
I myself pay a lot of attention to my questions but at times I simply leave the question be due to not getting the information I wanted from any of the answers.
You can't just assume that each question will get a perfect or even correct answer.

i think its dumb not to choose one personally. If I'm gonna spend the points to ask a questions in the first place I'd at least like to get some of them back by choosing a best answer. Its stupid not to.

they don't know how to vote for the best answer! and usually people start posting their answers within 3 hours, but the question poster would log out before 3 hours, so he'll forget to vote for a best answer, and it's gooing to be days before he can vote. This happens to me when I was new here, and it still happens to me when I don't log in ,days after I post my question.

Maybe sometimes they cannot choose between all of the wonderful answers and need some input. All answers should be pondered, not just those from your contacts.
