We are trying to get pregant and I was wondering if it is better to have sex the day before ovulation to allow sperm to travel to the egg. If anyone knows about all of this I would appreciate the advice. Thanks for your help.

Go to http://www.yourdays.com/ it's a free calendar you put in the first day of your last period and on the calendar it will show you when you are fertile and the first day of ovulation,on your first fertile day start having intercourse once every other day until your suppose to get your period and make sure you have sex on the first day of ovulation because that's when you are most fertile, having intercourse like this you'll have a better chance of getting pregnant.Good luck and lots of baby dust to you!

Yes, I have heard from doctors that the best thing to do is go for a few days without having sex, to increase the amount of sperm that will hopefully get you pregnant, then have sex 4 days in a row... the two days before, the day of and the day after ovulation. Also, make sure you aren't running to the restroom to clean up as soon as you're finished, I have heard that laying in bed for up to 30 minutes after sex, sometimes with your lower body elevated with something like a pillow under your lower back, can also increase your chance oc conceiving.

Every month you have a fertile window of about 5 days. The best time to have baby-making sex is during this window.

Your fertile window consists of 3 days before ovulation, the day of ovulation, and the day after ovulation. Sex any other time won't result in pregnancy.

Here's how it works out on paper:

If you're anticipating ovulation on September 15, your fertile window would be:

September 12 (fertile)
September 13 (fertile)
September 14 (HIGHLY fertile)
September 15 Ovulation Day! (fertile)
September 16 (possibly fertile)

Hope this helps.

Good luck.

I would ovulate 3-5 days after the last day of my period so pretty much, the day I stopped spotting was the day I started trying (every day, or at least every other day). I am 8 weeks pregnant and believe we conceived the day before I ovulated. Get to know your body and have fun baby dancing!!!

Yep sperm can live for up to 7 days inside you. If you have sex on the day of ovulation you have just as much chance tho up to you really

It's best to have sex starting a couple days before , the day of, and the day after (just incase) ovulation. You don't want to miss that eggy, once it's gone, it's another month for you...

OK all of my friends tell me this is how they conceive their babies. OK one week before you period have sex every other day no more then that and you should get pregnant in no time also if your husband smokes and drinks alot of caffeine that could reduce his sperm count so tell him to cut it out.

Good luck!

You're more likely to become pregnant in any particular month if you have intercourse during your most fertile period - the days just before and after you ovulate.

one or two days before would be good; sperm lives up to 5 days so itll meet your egg once its released, your egg however, only lives about 24 hours
