Embaressed or not she needs to go to the doctor. Doctors don't think ANYTHING about this kind of thing. It's in a normal days work, just as fighting traffic is to all of the rest of us. It's NOTHING to be embarassed about. REALLY IT'S NOT!!!! Please tell her. I'm a nurse and I know. The things that can happen if this type of thing goes untreated is not good. She can become sterile. It's probably JUST a bacterial infection, causing a fishy-like odor. In women it is usually caused from wiping from the back to the front allowing microscopic bacteria to enter the vagina and causing a bacterial infection. The common "yeast infection" medications will not cure it. ONLY a prescription cream will do away with it for good. Please tell your friend to go to the doctor. They will prescribe exactly what she needs. TRUST ME....it's not any worse than having a sore throat.

Be sure and tell her that douching will NOT get rid of it. Douching is NOT a good thing. PROVEN BY MEDICAL SCIENCE. It removes all the "good bacteria" from the vagina and alters the pH. NEVER A GOOD THING!

Does she wash regularly? Sometimes filling a sink with vinegar, baby soap and some water, then washing thoroughly will help....has she tried using a douche? If she's tried these things, and nothing helps, then she may have a medical problem going on that will only be resolved by seeing a physician. Tell her not to be embarrassed, medical problems aren't anyone's fault, and if she's uncomfortable going to her family doctor, then go to a gynecologist...they see this type of thing 20 times a day on a regular basis. She could have a yeast infection. I guess it would hurt to try some over the counter Monistat and eat some yogurt with live bacteria in it...that would get rid of a yeast infection if that's the problem.

Sorry to say but you need to take your friend to her doctors to be checked out. He will have to ask alot of questions ..describe the smell (fish?..., is there discharge (white or yellow), how long has this been goin on? does it burn when she goes to the bathroom, etc*
He'll probably give her an antibiotic to clear it up and some cream..........IF she doesn't go, it could lead to many other infections within her uterous, into her bladder, kidneys etc and she could end up in hospital.....but if she goes now, and finds out what is going on..she'll get the right meds and be on her way to feeling so much better without any smell*

GoodLuck*

I know she's uncomfortable with the idea of going to the doctor, but she needs to have this evaluated by her doctor to see what is going on before trying to treat it. It sounds like she has an infection going on, but they will help her to figure out if that's the case.

I would recommend a female doctor because I think it will help her feel a little more comfortable talking about this issue.

I think she must not do self medication nor encourage her to do so... for it might get worst such as anaphylactic reactions from that over-the-counter medicines, without M.D.'s prescription. She must consult professional M.D. for proper diagnosis and proper medicine. Hope you friend get well soon. Regards
