And it seems so sad to me. When another team wins the Super Bowl, the rest of the country is left out of the victory. But when the Dallas Cowboys win the Super Bowl everyone shares in the victory because The Dallas Cowboys are , after all, America's Team ! As a matter of fact, if The Dallas Cowboy's team name wasn't too valuable a valuable property for the NFL to allow it, I think that it would have most certainly indeed been changed to America's Team. People in Dallas wouldn't mind . We are the kind that likes to pass the good stuff along.
The Cowboys have always been special. Having come in existence only six clalendar years before, the still-virginal expansion team rose up to coming within a mere four yard spread out over 2 consecutive games of wiping both the Green Bay Packer and the Vince Lombardi mystiques completely from existence !

As it was, the packers knew their time had come to a end and just got out of the way on their own. While America's Team reeled off 20-something consecutive seasons while using a scientific, clean, finesse style of football.
And now they are building a stadium which will be the most enviromentally friendly project ever undertaken in human history . Behold !

I hate Dallas. They don't win anything yet the media always talk about them. Enough. They haven't won a playoff game in 12 years. BSPN would hate me because I would refuse to talk about teams that don't matter. I change the channel every time they mention the Cowboys. I could understand if they won a lot...but... I would say; 1. Yankees 2. Dallas 3 Lakers 4. Patriots 5. Miami Heat

OK all of you Steelers fans get over yourself. Go take that new mascot and go get a room. If you actually did research and knew what you were talking about you'd find that Dallas actually does have the highest national average ratings. So geniuses, they technically are America's team. Oh and another thing to the Steelers fans. People go to NFL games no matter where they are. It's the same for every team, so your not special. Also they really aren't in contention all that often. Especially with Cowher gone, they're doomed. The Cowboys will have a great season. Oh one last thing. The Packers stink. Favre is old and should have retired. Go Cowboys.

I think I can answer this question for you. After extensive research and polling, I have determined that the cause of this improbable affliction has been narrowed down to one Bryan D, who, in reality and in fact, is a Michigan Wolverine follower in the depths of a deep depression and has lost all his senses. Fortuanately, there is help for him in the form of a well known healer and team player Terrell Owens. Nicknamed "T. O." by an anonymous person, has done nothing but brought sunshine to everywhere he goes, spreading it around like ketchup on a two year old with a corn dog. Now that "T. O." has been made Co-Offensive Coordinator by firm disciplinarian Wade Phillips, expect to see about 80 passes thrown his way in each game until just after Thanksgiving, when in a fit of never before seen temper by the normally stoic Owens, after he has dropped his 27th pass of the season, he physically attacks the guy in charge of putting new balls into play. Recently hired Head Coach Steve Mariucci, afterwards, will be heard saying in a press conference, "That's just T. O. being T. O." and the Cowboys, still America's Team, trade Tony Romo for Jeff Garcia for a run at the playoffs in the NFC, which only has two teams with a winning record through 11 weeks in the 2007 season.

mpkabooty you are a retard, the Steelers have one if not the best following in the NFL! You would know this if you were a real fan! Shell B. you said it right the Steelers are "America's Team" it's just everybody hates them because they have been one of the best franchise in the league since the 70's and are always in contention for the Super Bowl!
Yo Rouss you need to get your facts straight the Steelers have had the best record in the league since 93 and have only had 2 losing seasons in the last fourteen! So making the playoff every year doesn't make them contenders every year? OK smart guy! Read this STEELERS ARE BETTER THAN THE cowboys ALWAYS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

"Americans hate their own football team , The Dallas Cowboys ?"
I live in Detroit... The Cowboys are not my team.. Why the heck does Dallas speak for the USA?
Are the Patriots a better pick in at least name only?
"scientific, clean, finesse style of football" Michael Irvin, Nate Newton and Erik Williams, Owens and Prime Time are clean?
The Steelers are a very successfull team, but after living in Pittsburgh for 4 years that are quite full of themselves as well!

The Cowboys never self proclaimed they were America's Team it was given to them, but everywhere I go someone has a Cowboy hat or shirt on. I recently went to Disney World and it was like if it was a Dallas Cowboy reunion there

Just remember what Jerry Jones did to Tom Landry when Landry was dismissed. Jones told him he had 30 minutes to get off the property or he would be arrested for trespassing. No farewell to the legend of Dallas, the greatest coach the Cowboys will ever have. Since then the Cowboys and Jerry Jones can go to hell.

Success of an organization has alot to do with it. People hate to see the same team win and the Dallas Cowboys did it for alot of years until recently. As far as Americas Team title, well NFL FILMS proclaimed them that. NFL anylist call them Americas Team, its a title that stuck with them because of all the success they had over the years. Plus they do have one of the largest fan following in the world. People just love to hate them. But it makes it alot a fun to watch them succeed or fail because it gets alot of people very frustrated and upset. Thats what makes the sport of football so great!

I have no problem with the Cowboys, while I am not a fan myself. However to comment on the idiot who thinks that the Steelers have the "nation's biggest fanbase," you either live in Pittsburgh or you are extremely naive. I watch Sportscenter and almost every other ESPN sports show each day and I hardly hear about the Steelers, if at all. Why? Because they suck. Even worse than the Cowboys.

Um...last I heard, Dallas didn't encompass all of "America" so why would the Cowboys be "America's Team"? I don't think they are even "Texas's Team".
If any team would deserve that monicker, it would be the one who has won the most NFL championships, right? So that would be the Green Bay Packers, who have won eleven NFL championships, more than any other team. That's why Green Bay is called Titletown, USA and if there's a football heaven, it is in Green Bay.
