This is above the nominal family income in the US. So middle to upper middle class. However it depends greatly on where you live. If you live in NYC, Boston, DC, South Florida or most urban areas of Calif - this will actually be lower middle class. The reason, of course is the standard of living. A easy way to check is to find the average selling price of homes in your area. Currently the average house in the US sells for slightly over $200,000. If you live in an area where most houses are less than $100,000 (my father does - he lives in a very rural area far from an urban center). Then you are upper middle class. But if you are in the SF area where houses will approach $1,000,000 - then your income would put you in the lower middle class. Note that I would suggest that $60,000 always puts you in the middle class in the US. In addition, you didn't say if you were single and renting (you might feel rich and be able to invest a significant amount of your income) or if you are the sole bread winner for a family of 10 with 2 in college and having large tution payments each semister (it which case, you probably feel very poor).

it depends on where you live. If you were in Calcuta you would be upper class. If you were in San Francisco, you could be considered lower middle class.
