Do you believe the idea of a clean slate, being able to start over new?Personally I do, because I believe that everyone is capable of learning from their mistakes, leaving their past resolved, and moving on with new wisdom, as long as they believe in themselves. Please tell me what you think, and why.

Yes but only to a point. If a person stole from you and you forgive them, then go right back and do it again, would you give this thief a clean slate?
But if a person really wants to learn from their mistake and want to make a difference, I would say yes.

But the funny thing is that as a Christian we are to forgive 77 time (basically stop counting). But read this passage correctly and you will see that the person has to repent (or change their ways).

Sorry I'm not trying to preach. I am just trying to point out that even from the most liberal view, clean slate comes with a clause.
Good Luck.

I disagree, even though theres that whole "forgive and forget" concept, thre are things that cannot be forgoten, people can learn from their mistakes but they will remember them and still feel emberassed about it, if someone does you wrong there is no goig back to a clean slate, you can never truly trust that prsn, even if you believe you can. Same if you do sumone else wrong. You will always feel akward around that person, and if you dont its because you're use to it. In which case Its already to late for a clean slate

I don't believe a "clean slate" is feasible. We are who we are because of our experiences, and those experiences will always influence our future choices even after moving on. Yes, we can start over, but the slate will never truly be clean.

why would you want to start with a clean slate, when everything that came before was part of who you are now? you have to make mistakes to learn sometimes, and it is those experiences that help us to grow, be stronger, and be a better person. you can't have that if you are living in denial of your past.

there is no clean slate. However, there is such a thing as surprising the world and going against their expectations. That to me seems to be more redeeming than a blank slate, when it is fiat that everyone pretends they don't remember.

Sure. The moment we stop dwelling on the past in our thinking, we have already begun to move on.
