To be honest, I guess I just don't think about it anymore. It's nearly impossible for someone else to know what I'm feeling when most of the time it's hard for me to make it out myself, you know? I think I just got to the point of being happy just to have someone around who cares enough to at least try and understand.

Exactly! So many people pretended to understand how I felt when my grandma died. She was my best friend and lived with me my whole life up until I was 12. You NEVER know how someone else is feeling in a situation...for me it was a whole range of things. Denial, anger, sadness, anxiety...I lost a huge part of myself and nobody could relate to that.

Then there were those who basically told me to get over it but hadn't had any major deaths of family members. You can't just "get over" something that big.

Yes, that has always been one of my biggest pet peeves!! They are usually people who always think that they are right or they are just trying to move on to something that THEY think is more important. I just try to avoid those kind of people, even though it's not always easy to do. Good Luck

Yes, and add to that that they think they know what you will do in any given situation. And they get upset when you deviate from what they THINK is your norm!

they're just trying to make you feel more comfortable, and they probally don't want to hear some long, drawn out rant.
