Current graphics cards and processor support circuit draw mainly from the +12V rail. So there is now heavy use of the +12V rail.

For safety each rail is allowed to carry only about 220 watts max. So the +12V rail is limited to 18 amps. For delivery of more amps (direct current), additional rail or rails are provided. These rails supply the +12V needs through these connectors:

I am not sure of the right answer here. A 12 volt rail could mean the bus rail for the 12 volt side of the power supply. There is one for 12 volt and one for 5 volt, the primary and secondary sides of the transformer. Each bus rail then has many connectors to power the motherboard, CD/DVD, Floppy, Hard Drive, etc.
