My friend called and asked me a really annoying question, so I was like "you're annoying I gotta go byebye" and I hung up the phone.

Was I too mean?

You were a little harsh, but she wasn't blame free. She brought it on by asking the annoying question. As a friend, she'd know it would bug you. Just call her later and say, Now I have some time to talk. Sorry if I was abrupt earlier or something in your own words.

No. That's the problem with annoying people. Nobody ever tells them they're annoying so they go on continuing their annoying lives. You did the right thing by letting them know.

Yes. You could have said something like "Hey, I'm really busy - I've gotta go. Talk to you later."

But to tell her she is annoying is mean.

It was rather harsh. I just tell my friend "well, you're boring me so I gotta go". We say it to each other all the time now.

Yes, I think you were too mean.. You should have been tactful and told her that you don't feel comfortable answering the question and then changed the subject.
