Are you asking what I DO or for suggestions on what a person SHOULD do?
Because what a person SHOULD do is probably try to listen attentively and attempt to add to and get some benefit from the conversation...
But what do I DO? Usually yawn a lot...let my mind mind and eyes wander around...try to find a believable reason to excuse myself from the conversation...that type of thing... ;-)
I know...I'm ashamed of myself...

I always find a way to spice things up a bit and make the cnversation more interesting...there is always something fun two people can do while in an internet conversation that could be fun.
If you are talking about real life conv. then I wouldn't go see this person in the first place

Sometimes my mind wanders, but when they ask me a yes or no question I just nod my head.
This happens sometimes, but most of the time I try to pay attention to the person speaking to me no matter how boring the conversation is. It's the polite thing to do.

I'm wondering why can't you leave? Anyway, just listen closely to what they say, looking for something that is connected to something that interests you also, then comment on it. Also ask questions about what you don't completely understand and would like to understand further.

Change the subject to something *he* doesn't want to talk about, so *he* will leave.
Everybody needs to be an expert on *something* that nobody in their right mind would want to talk about. It's a basic survival skill for the modern world.

I'll cut the conversation whenever i got the chance and talk about music. At least music is so general that almost everyone know about it. Never mind if i don't know the band he/ she like. I always do this, and always working.

I have rarely had a boring time with anyone.
I revel in conversations. But if it gets that bad, I would play cards.

Try to listen and show I'm interested, And be positive that maybe I will learn something. After all, when I go on about boring things...LOL....my friends listen to me.
