It is an overthrow of an existing government or split from a, generally imperial, outside power. The causes are generally the feeling of being oppressed, high taxes, the government abusing power, general dissatisfaction with the government. The effects will either be a new country or if the revolution is unsuccessful, a, most likely harsher, united government.
