If it's being handled thru a Government agency that would be your problem. My ex now gets hers about the same time I get my check if not sooner. As it was handled in civil court.
This particular state ( at the time I was in the system) took $10.00 of the top too, as a handling fee I guess

The courts say the employer is required to take out support ,but they dont say when, they can take it out anytime of the month they want as long as it gets done,so sometimes you have an employer taht takes their time, then you got postal time then the child support folks doing their thing ,but with the debit card thing you would think it would be like a payroll direct deposit.Where I use to work I was paid every other week and my employer would deduct from my check each pay period and send it in once a month, taking half from each check. If your not sure if the money is coming out regularly just contact the child support agency, they can tell you all you need to know.

wow where do you live that he only pays 76.00 a month. I pay 395.00 to my ex for each child for a grand total of 790.00 a month.
I wish I had lived in your state or had his lawyer.
It takes a long time becuase it comes out of his check is mail to the child support headquarters in the state you live in by his employer. they then have to recieve and process the check they get. They will not release the money until the check has cleared the account becuase they do not want to lose money if the check is returned. once it clears the account then they wire the money into your account.
So it takes a long trip but eventually it will seem like it comes regulary

it all a matter of timing. The employer withholds the support but who knows when the empoyer sends it to the state. Then once the state gets it, the payment gets processed and then waits until the next time checks are run, which could be once or twice a week.
It would not be unusual, for you to receive a payment that was withheld from the father's check 2 weeks earlier.
Also let's be clear, it is not the father's fault. His paycheck is being withheld.

You need to be more specific. What do you mean by "so long"? I mean---if he is paying it on the 1st and you get it on the 25th, then yes that's a long time. When did they start? How many times have they deducted his checks? What state are you in? There are many factors that change an answer for your question. Good luck, and thank God your son's father is working and is willing/able to pay child support!

Contact your local Child Support Enforcement Office. They will be able to check to see if he is indeed paying you. They will also investigate whether or not the length of time it is taking you to receive your child support is a lengthy time or not.

If you ever recieved help from the state...such as Aid for Dependant Children, food stamps, that type of thing....they hold the funds until that is all paid back before you recieve any child support. The state gets paid before you do.
