My girls all started walking around nine months (my son is disabled and can't walk yet at seven years old!). There's nothing you can or should do to encourage them to walk earlier, they will do it when they are ready. The average age for learning to walk independently is 12 months, and she definitely sounds right on track to be an earlier walker. I often wished that my children hadn't started walking so early, as they were just TOO fearless and unaware of dangers at that age...by 12 months old they had more of an awareness of things like steps etc, but I don't know really whether that came with age or experience...mightn't have made any difference at all.

10 1/2 months...I didn't encourage it! My son has always liked to be standing up and at about 8 1/2-9 months he started walking around holding onto things then decided to just take off one day!!! Now I am wishing he was at the stage where he would just lay there and not get into anything again! :)

Both of my boys were actually walking at 9 months.
Pulling up and climbing at 6 months.
My daughter didn't walk until 14 months old. I eventually taught her to walk. She didn't even roll over until she was about 9 months old. She was late at everything and my boys were early at everthing

There is no need to encourage a baby to walk unless they are getting older like my daughter.

Sounds like you have a very active & lively little girl.

Enjoy

My son took his first steps at 7 months. According to my grandmother, my father did the same thing. My siblings and I all walked between 9 and 11 months. My sister's daughter walked at 7 months and her son at 12 months. My brother's son walked at 8 months. My sister in law's daughter is 12 months and cannot walk yet.

The age range for most babies to walk is 7 to 18 months, with 12 months being average. There was nothing special I ever did to encourage my son to walk. We just let him do as he pleased and one day he just let go of the coffee table and took three steps all by him self.

My son was already walking at 9 months. He began crawling at 5 months, and pulling up by 6. By 7 he was cruising around the furniture, and in the 8th month, he would get brave and go back and forth between the coffee table and the couch (he would hold onto the couch with one hand, reach his other towards the table, and then sort of...fling himself at it, and hope for the best). He was 10 months when he could stand up without pulling up on something.

My son absolutely loved his Johnny-Jump-Up and his walker. He would have spent all day in one of those, if he could. He would walk in huge circles in the jump-up, instead of bouncing like he was supposed to. I really think those two things helped him walk early.

A normal baby will walk at around 12 months, I think the 'normal' range is anywhere between 10 and 14months. It sounds like your daughter is right on track.

Late 10mnths, I did not encourage it tho since I knew where it would lead---LOL, but she did it anyway! She is 2 now and I wished she was still crawling or laying around on the floor---OOOOOO the days. She will learn on her own. Enjoy this time, believe me.
most children from what i read is at or after 1 years before walking. encouraging early walking can also increase the chance of bow legs and you don't want to have to deal with this---I learned this when I worked in pedi orthopedics.

My first little girl started walking at 9 months, my second one is 9 months now and can barely sit, so i guess its very different depending on the child, i have nieces that walked from 7 and 8 months, others who waited till a year and 5 months. I keep telling myself to be patient, my child will walk eventually, but im getting really impatient, haha.

My first began pulling up to things and cruising at 7 months, and was walking unassisted by 8 months. 2nd began pulling up and cruising at 8 months and now at 10 months is getting the hang of walking unassisted. I would not do anything to encourage walking, just let her go at her own pace. Not letting her go at her own pace may cause more frustration for her than actually encourage her.

My first child, daughter, walked at 10mths 1day and was pulling her self up and was pushing a stool around from 8-9mths onward. by 10mths she mastered the art of letting go and doing it herself.
My son was only 8mths3wks old when he walked by himself! He started the pulling up and roaming around holding onto stuff at only just 8mths and then let go really quickly!

You can encourage walking by holding her hands and letting her step out and also get a toys with a handle and on wheels so she can hold on and push it around, then she will just learn to let go one day and hopefully walk after it!
There's no set age that she will learn this but usually around 12mths is the average but by the sounds of things, it could be sooner. Just keep the video camera handy!

best of luck and invest in a good pair of running shoes (for yourself) as you will soon be on the go all the time!

Oh, and don't put her in proper shoes for at least 1mth after she starts walking or this may hinder how quickly she develops the technique. Just socks or barefeet is fine for the first month and make sure her first shoes are very well fitted as well. (and keep them when she outgrows them, they are such a nice momento of her first years!)
