Is it safe to take prenatal vitimans if youare not pregnant, not trying to get pregnant or have never had a child before. I have been taking them for a while and have notice a change in my over all health in a good way. ( even skin tone, healthier hair, skin's not so dry, and more energy) Just woundering if it was safe.

Yes, prenatal vitamins have a lot of good nutrients that are helpful even if you aren't pregnant. I'm wondering by your avatar/name if you're male though? And if so, while I've heard of males taking prenatal vitamins, it's a little weird. . . .

Prenatal vitamins are multivitamins intended for women who are pregnant or hope to become pregnant. Sometimes prenatal vitamins are recommended for women who are breast-feeding, too. Most prenatal vitamins contain more folic acid, iron and calcium than do standard adult multivitamins. Prenatal vitamins have been claimed to promote thicker hair and stronger nails, but researchers haven't yet proved whether prenatal vitamins truly have these effects. Although prenatal vitamins are safe for otherwise healthy adults, they may cause constipation, nausea or vomiting. Keep in mind that if you're generally healthy and eat a variety of foods, including fruits, vegetables, whole grains, legumes and lean meats, you don't likely need dietary supplements of any type.

Its very good because the folic acid in the prenatal vitamins is not only really good for your body, If taken before pregnancy, when you actually are pregnant you will already have it in your blood and when given to your unborn baby it can prevent neural tube defects like spina bifida...doctors actually recommend that all women take prenatal vitamins during childbearing years even if you arent pregnant or trying to conceive

My first question is why are you taking them at all , is it because you or somebody thought it was good for you?
I wonder if you are a Male ?
I had a lot to do with the Theater with a young players group and I found that some of the Coriss , were taking prenatal vitamins , they were (Males?)
The only comment is that it is important to know that excess in Vitamins can do more harm than good.

I have taken them while I was not pregnant. As far as I know they are good for you and just like a regular vitamin. It would be good to ask a professional though, I agree that there might be something in there that you would get too much of. Prenatal vitamins are for double nutrition, for mother and baby.

Check with your doctor. I know it won't hurt short term but there might be too much of a certain vitamin in there that you don't need long term. I would check just to be safe.
