when you audition for a film or a tv show, and you want to be the main character of the film or the tv show. Does it matter on how you do the audition or by your agent, cause sometimes your agent can get you a audition for being the main character,,,or sometimes is it by how you audition?

Me and a friend made few small (really small) indy films. And in my experience you get to use agents once you become known (and start getting paid). They don't work for free (commision).

If you are still at the very early stages, most agents will not even talk to you. It is very different from modeling agents.

As an actor / actress, you need to get few no-name rolls under your belt. Very few actors / actress make it very early with no / little experience.

Until you are getting paid, there no option. You can't get an agent.

Good Luck. You have a hard and long uphill road. But don't give up. One of the "no name" actors that we used was eventually in few big budget movies.

It matters mainly what role your agent puts you up for, but occassionally a good audition will get you a better role. Beginning actors always start out with very small roles, and slowly work their way up to bigger ones.

I am curious as to why you asked this question, which shows that you do not have an agent nor any understanding of how the business works
