This trait is unrelated to his autism. My Uncle Jack and Cousin Beth both have this trait in their hair.

Autism and mental retardation are not the same. A mentally retarded person has an IQ below the norm. Many autistic people have IQ's in the genius range. Hair anomallies have nothing to do with a persons mental condition. Just as a womans bleaching or dyeing her hair has nothing to do with her mental capacity.

I have a 2 year old Grandson who suffers from a rare genetic illness called Tubular Sclerosis, which causes him to be Autistic, He also has white strips in his hair, but not because he is Autistic, but because of the illness he suffers from. I would wager a bet that your classmate suffers from Tubular Sclerosis, and the white strips are caused by calcium overload in his system. I hope you are kind to him, as he has a lot to put up with, and cannot help being annoying.
