Currently the U.S. has over 1.2 million soldiers in uniform, why so few are in Iraq?

With the word "terror" being bantied about like an igniter switch for the current regime to use when they need to pull numbers why is it that we only have approx 137,000 troops in Iraq? If the "terror" was sssooo real and we were dealing with an actual threat then why dont we (from the start) have more troops in the theatre? Here's why, the "war on terror" is a lie, pure and simple. All those people from the top down are so dumb not to realize that you need more soldiers to win a war? A war that is so important to our national security? Dont believe that for a minute the U.S. did not arrive at the top of the free world because of chance or luck. The real war is against you and your tax dollars. 8 billion A MONTH? And we cant catch Bin Laden or stop "the terror"? Dont believe that.

How many troops do you think we have spread ALL OVER THE FREAKIN WORLD to protect our interests? HOW MANY FREAKIN TROOPS does it take to protect the home land? HOW MANY FREAKIN TROOPS DOES IT TAKE TO ALLOW YOU TO POST STUPID STATEMENTS ON YA?

Get a clue, or get into a uniform. MORONS ALL OF YOU! You just don't get it.

Do you think it would be better ifwe were to advance all of our troops into Iraq at once time and leave the rest of the US and all of the otehr bases open for target?

Do you think it is not a good idea to rotate the troops so that they at least get some down time and they are not all in one specific place?

You state hat the U.S. has 1.2 miliion "SOLDIERS" in uniform.... can you quote your source..? Do you mean we have Marines, Navy, Coast Guard, Army, National Guard, Army Reserve, Etc? They all have specific jobs and are not all COMBAT troops... if this makes sense to you.

Please, if you are going to thow out a statement such as this, know the facts of how many combat troops the U.S. has.. and then ask why?

You seem to be poorly informed. That usually happens when you try to make an argument out of a single fact and condemn your own nation, treating them as "guilty until proved innocent".

1) We have army bases all over the world. You want us to empty them just to please you? O.K. Get Congress to approve more. You must have seen the struggle between Congress and the President as to how many troops could be sent, right?

2) We hear screams about how he's leaving the country undefended. Thank you for making clear that he is not.

3) My family escaped Islam in the 1950s. We've been expecting this war for decades. You have no idea what you are talking about regarding this very real threat.

4) You tell us that the very best informed people in the world, the U.S. government, is all stupider than you? I leave people to make their own judgment on that one.

5) I agree, it wasn't chance or luck. It was capitalism and freedom.

6) We pay too many taxes. Get rid of socialism. That will bring things down quickly. Competition, not putting all the power into the hands of the government is the way to go if you want prices down.

7) Do you have any idea how much money it takes to put one soldier in the field? Have you done any research, or are you just boggled by the amount so that you can't understand it? That's around 700,000 dollars per year per troop, NOT INCLUDING SUPPORT PERSONNEL, EQUIPMENT, TRAVEL, etc. Add those in and the amount suddenly makes a bit more sense and you make less.

8) As to your last statement, I believe that best applies to your writing, and I agree.

You don't have any military experience, do you? We don't have 1.2 million soldiers in the way you think. The combat infantryman has a huge logistic tail. We also have commitments worldwide, and the guys who can fight are spread pretty thin. You're taking a number, misinterpreting it, and thinking tactically. With some education, you can learn to think strategically, and if you're talented and work hard at it, you can even think in terms of logistics, which is where an army really functions.

You sure about that number? You know that soldiers are just Army people. There are also US Marines, sailors & airmen.

And most military people are support people not combat soldiers. Out of the 160,000 in Iraq only about 50,000 are actually combat troops.

Where are you getting your facts at?
In the U.S. military, there are 2.24 million in uniform, and that doesn't include the IRR either.
