Please please stay away from wikipedia, answers, askjeeves, and all the other search engines. they are a nice way to start your research but they really do not give you a reliable source for information. Anyone without a verified background or sources could write what is in those pages and that does not amount to historical research. Try the link below.

2) American colonists declare Independence from England

Revolutionaries seized control of the governments of the thirteen colonies. This sparked the war, basically. Americans set up the Second Continental Congress and a year after the war actually started, declared independence from British rule (i.e. the declaration of independence). There are several reasons America wanted to be independent. First of all, most people living in the Colonies were born in America, a lot of them fourth or fifth generation Americans, so they had no sentimental ties to England at all. Some of it had to do with British taxes. Americans didn't feel it was right to pay someone across the ocean for benefits they weren't necessarily getting. We gained our Independence when we won the war.
American Independence and the Revolutionary war are not the same thing. The Revolution lead to Independence.

The American Colonies did fight for independence. It wasn't an easy victory either. The first battles were fought before the Declaration of Independence. The Battles of Lexington and Concord were fought in 1775, while the Declaration was signed in 1776. If you read what is at Wikipedia, it will show how it came to be. It doesn't just focus on the war itself. I also found another website that might help. Good luck!

I came from Japan, so I don't know completely about what happened. From what I DO know, the Americans had The Revolutionary War. What happened was the British were taxing the American colonists. The first battle was the battle of lexington and concord. One of the more well known generals was George Washington, who later became the First President.

you need to get a book out of the library....
Declaration of independence led to revolutionary war (British were not too happy to be losing their colonies).
no, independence does not equal revolution, but the successful revolution established United States as an independent country.
