those of you who bash a political ideology, its clear you have no idea what you're talking about.

have you read the communist manifesto? capital? i have. and you likely dont know what communism stands for despite its failure, at no fault of its own. i personally think socialism is awesome, do you see me pointing out the fact that capitalism is creating an ever widening gap between the rich and poor and how the poor in america have no medicare and poor education at every opportunity?

those of you going "oh america is the best ******* country ever!!" most of you have never even crossed the border to canada, based on what credibility are you to judge what country is better?

ok for argument's sake:

without "the benevolent superpower"'s influence, there'd be stability in the middle east, isreal would not exist, south asia would be a metropolitan giant. and we'd have less shitty hip hop in the world.

what has any wars the US fought ever made any difference? north and south koreans want korea to be reunited. if vietnam went the way of communism, it would have no lasting impact. saddam was still president after the first gulf war, and after the second gulf war, iraq is on the verge of an uncontrollable civil war. afgahnistan still houses al-qaeda, and if we fight iran in the future, we'd better have an alternate fuel to power our cars or we'd all be riding tricycles to work everyday.

I've traveled all over the world.
I am college educated and am a teacher.
I've read more than four hundred books on religion and philosophy (I won't count books on tape).
I had two parents in government (C.I.A./Treasury)(Saudi Embassy/U.N.).

I've read it.

There is an ever widening gap because more and more wealth is being produced. Our poor have cars, TVs, stereos. We have the richest poor in the world.

You want us to accept an ideology that not only has failed around the world, but it's failure can be linked directly to the ideology itself?

You expect people to try hard to succeed in a system where they don't own anything, can't do much better than the next guy, and the best job in the country is to work for the government?

Where's the incentive? Where is the reason for struggling to get better and achieve more?

The rich you speak of are people who MADE their fortunes.

Your solution is to take away the means to make those fortunes.

Where do you think the rich will go if we went socialist?

Do you really think that isn't why a lot of them are already leaving? Why would they stay? Where does the money come from after you fleece them?

Why did you THINK the Soviet Union fell? They couldn't compete with a capitalist nation.

Recent reports out of China show that despite more people and lower prices, we are still out producing and out-selling China by a large margin.

Wouldn't it be wonderful if human nature (that is the reason you blame the failure of socialism on, correct? A few bad men?) was perfect and socialism actually worked in reality?

But it doesn't, and it won't, any more than a true democracy would.

No, thank you. I know socialism well. The argument that "WE ALL don't know it because we obviously won't accept it, so we obviously don't know it well enough" is circular and a waste of our time.

Oh, and you just did bash capitalism, in this question.

We are the best at many things. We are the best because the best the world has to offer comes here, and we've been wise enough to make it ours, part of us. We take the best the world has to offer and we make it into something American.

Socialism hasn't made the cut. Try next door.

Based upon your rhetoric and declamation you must believe that you are an intelligent person. Surprise! You are not. You really do not know what the f**k you are talking about. I have studied political science and socialism and communism aren't any better than capitalism. They all have serious flaws because people are involved in the governments. There is no such government that is even close to being perfect. Go back through history and study the various types of governments. None were even close to being perfect and most were not satisfactory.

If the US decided to let every country fend for itself, where would your theory be?

The benevolent superpower we are makes it possible for all these socialist countries to spend their money on things other than military.

Lastly, where has communism every worked successfully?
If you define success as keeping the gap between the wealthy and the poor "indescernable", then it is better than capitalism. As it stands, the poor in the US have it better than 80% of the rest of the planets inhabitants.

Try denying that!

Edit: You are wondering which wars US has made any difference in...try WWI and WW2. For fancying yourself as so bright, I sure can't see it.

The simple answer is capitalism has worked every time it has been tried.
If I got paid the same amount of money for staying at home as going to work, I'd stay home.
If my labor was taxed so much that I didn't see any profit, I wouldn't labor that much.
I've lived in other countries, and it made me appreciate America even more.
Do you remember when the Russians were waiting in huge lines for bread and toilet paper, and could not get any?
Read George Orwell's "Animal Farm".
You are obviously more equal than the rest of us.
