My daughter will be 10 weeks on Tuesday. The flu has been going around and almost everyone in the family has gotten it. I took her temp yesterday and it came back as 100.2 that was her rectal temp. She has been eating more often then normal. I took her temp today and it was 101.3 and that was also her rectal temp. She also has been sleeping a little more then usual. Could she get the flu already at such a young age? What signs should I be watching gor if she can get it?

Well her throwing up is nothing new to me so if she throws up I wont know if its the flu or not because she has reflux and often throws up.

At 101.3 your baby has a fever- at 10 weeks of age, that needs urgent attention. You need to take her into the ER tonight. I am sure that she probably has a virus if your entire family has been battling it, but anything over 100.4 rectally under 12 weeks of age needs to be seen by a doctor immediately. Please, better safe than sorry, have her seen tonight.
We are not talking about 9 month old or a 9 year old here, we are talking about a 9 week old!!!! Fever's should be taken very seriously at this age people. 101.3 at 9 weeks of age IS concerning! And No, you do not subract one degree for a rectal temp, it is the most accurate way for a parent to measure body temperature.

A rectal temp of 101 is NOTHING at this age. If her rectal temp is 105 or 106, then talk to me. Just remember that you have to subtract 1 degree from the rectal temp to make it equivalent to an oral temp. That makes her temp 100.3 at most.
You also have to keep in mind that up to 6 months or so your child's body is not able to regulate it's own temp very well. At this a ge a rectal temp of 104 is not even a big deal. Call your doc and ask if Tylenol is okay if your child is very fussy. Otherwise just nurse a lot and provide comfort.
I did minimal intervention with Maya (I provided comfort through nursing and holding, cool baths etc) and at 3 she has NEVER been on antibiotics or meds. And she has not been sick for almost a year, not even a sniffle. As an infant she was sick ALL THE TIME. Now I do not look at it as a bad thing, it was as though she was training for the real thing. In the past two months she has been exposed to croup, the flu , and whooping cough ( unintentionally, through school) and has not contracted a single one. I believe it is because her immune system was allowed to build itself instead of being fed antibiotics at a young age.

if she gets the flu that you are talking about it is tonly a stomach virus not the flu. the true flu is a respiratory problem that could potentally kill her as it kills adults to. the stomach flu she will get over. my doctor told me to never let her temp get over 100.5 and at that point i was to bring her in and they will admit them to lower the temp. they're temp shouldn't be over 100.5 until 6 mo. of age.
yes your daughter could get the stomach flu at such a young age, just watch her temp closly, diarea, urine, fluid intake.
she may be sleeping more due to the elevated temp. if this continues to happen tomorrow I would go ahead and bring her to the doctor to make sure that everything is ok and that her elevated temp does not harm her any. if she does get diarea make sure that she drinks lots of milk and/or water as diarea can dehydrate a person really fast.

Just keep her hydrated. There is not much to do about the flu. Lots of hugs and bottles. You will know if she starts throwing up or really messy diapers (more than usual). Give her a little motrin to bring down the fever (if she does get the flu this will help with the body aches too).

you take a degree off for rectal temperatures, and add one for under arm. 101.3 is barely a fever in a newborn.
She sounds like she's fighting something. Call your doctor for an opinion. As long as a fever is monitored closely, most doctors will not have you medicate it in an infant, as they fight viruses better with a low fever like hers. But check with your pedi.
Watch for signs of cold, runny nose, crankiness. Vomitting to the point that she's not keeping anything down, and projectile.
If she starts acting lethargic, or her fever goes up and wont come back down with tylenol, go to the ER.

with a temp like that i would take her to the doctors. give her some baby tylenol to try to get the temp to go down. then monday call up her doctor and tell them what is going on and see what they say. it sounds like she could be sick.

Call the doctor. She is eating more because that is comforting to infants (especially if you're nursing). She's not too young to catch anything.

I'd take her to the doctor and not "sit at home wondering"
