Some women get critized for wearing mens clothes. Like when I used to wear my brothers pants when I was younger some people would make fun of me. But to answer your question I think it might be because men wear things like skirts/dresses without shaving their legs. Or maybe its because they seem to unfortable in the clothes. Like having some guy with big burly shoulders wearing a strapless dress just doesn't work out. He should have something that accents his features in a good way. You'd be surprised at how many girls get made fun of for wearing men's clothing. There are also different levels of wearing clothing made for the opposite sex.
For example, if a girl wore only a men's shirt, it's considered really sensual.
And if a boy wore a skirt, he's considered as maybe being confused.
There are also a lot of girls who feel more comfortable in men's clothing, and they are made fun of for it as well. In both cases (boys and girls) it's a choice to dress like that.

I would guess it's because a woman wearing pants doesn't look as strange as a man in a skirt.

because with women, it's like a fashion thing, but for men, fashion isn't really considered unless they are gay (most of the time. that's just the way it is)
Pants and shirts have been the fashion for men for hundreds of years, I don't know about you, but togas weren't too stylish.

they used to, u kno like pants but tht was a longgg time ago...are you talking bout dresses??? i no some guys who wear girls pants but they dnt get criticized..wut type of clothes do u mean???
the people who do criticize people are probably just jealous tht they have the guts to be different :D

ummm, cuz shorts and jeans just dont look bad on women, but skirts, booty shorts, blouses, tights and dresses just look wrong on men.
